Peer Supervision: Toward More Effective Training

This article discusses peer supervision as a vehicle for increasing student responsibility for self-assessment and peer assessment, and increasing independence and interdependence among students for professional and personal growth. The article also explains a model currently in use in a master's degree program in counseling. Included are rationale, definition, implementation, evaluation, and recommendations for use.

The students-recruiting-students undergraduate engineering recruiting programme

The students-recruiting-students (SRS) programme is an outreach programme developed to recruit high school students into the Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas. The four phases of this programme from development to on-campus, off-campus and post-admission recruiting are detailed in this paper along with 7 years of programmatic results. The goals of this paper are to introduce the SRS concept, encourage successful development of similar recruiting programmes and increase freshman enrolment in engineering. The SRS programme has more than doubled the department's freshman enrolment over the last 8 years.     

Influence of Attributed Expertness and Gender in Counselor Supervision

Counselor trainee ratings of supervisor expertness and competence did not differ as a function of either supervisor or trainee gender, but higher level ascribed expertness and competence were more favorably rated.     

A Proposed Model for Peer Supervision

Many counselors find themselves in settings where supervision of their clinical skills is not available. A peer supervision model is proposed that will provide practitioners with an opportunity to monitor their practice, increase self-confidence, and further develop their counseling skills.     

Changing Permanent Exhibitions: An Exercise in Hindsight,Foresight, and Insight1

Traditions associated with conservatism, scholarly content, and durability inform the ideology of the permanent exhibition. Once installed it is usually considered complete, and will remain unchanged until its content is questioned or considered outdated, or its physical deterioration becomes embarrassing. Museum curators work on very few, if any, permanent exhibitions during their career, and when they do their primary focus is on the scholarly content. It has only been in the past few years that museums, and curators, have looked to the discipline of visitor studies as being integral to process of exhibition development and the accessibility of content. A permanent exhibition constructed prior to this collaboration is revisited by its curator who applied five visitor studies' methodologies to the gallery to ascertain whether the curatorial/design concept was accessible to the visitor. This paper presents some ideas and findings from that study.     

中国煤炭需求弹性估算:时间波动与区际差异

需求弹性是经济学中的基础概念,也是我国煤炭市场化进程中的重要研究对象.不同于以往的宽泛研究,本文分别从国家维度、时间维度和区域维度对1995-2010年间的我国煤炭需求弹性展开系统化研究.基于面板数据模型的研究发现全国煤炭需求的价格弹性为0.59,煤炭在所考察期间总体呈现出刚性需求现象,但基于截面数据的回归结果显示各考察年份的煤炭需求弹性为负值且存在着较大的时间波动,而各区域时间序列的回归结果表明煤炭需求弹性的区际差异: 煤炭主产地其值为负,消费地其值为正.分析发现以国家维度和时间维度的研究结论相互矛盾,而以区域维度的研究结果更加科学合理,具有更为可靠的理论和现实指导意义.
