The purpose of the paper is to examine the impact of internationalization on innovation. Specifically we explored the impact of internationalization on firms' choice for research and development (R&D) approach and technology source, impact of choice for research and development (R&D) approach and technology source on innovation and finally impact of business hampering factors on innovation. We had focused on innovation intensity to measure impact on innovation. A survey of foreign investment enterprises in Croatia was conducted. A total of 145 firms responded to the questionnaire. Multivariate analyses are used to analyze the data. In addition we identified key factors impacting different types of innovation.  相似文献

This paper addresses the implementation of technology-forcing policies in open-ended diffusion processes that involve companies and regulators as well as consumers and civil society actors. Mobilising insights from the societal embedding of technology framework and policy steering theories, we investigate two implementation dilemmas that relate to an overarching tension between flexibility (to enable technological learning and stakeholder engagement) and coordinated push (to focus actors and drive deployment): a) early or late formulation of initial targets, and b) technocratic or emergent-adaptive implementation styles. We investigate these dilemmas with four comparative case studies of smart electricity meters between 2000 to 2019, which diffused rapidly in the Netherlands, Norway, and Portugal, but decelerated in the UK. We relate these differences to policy choices, and identify two patterns for successful implementation of technology-forcing policies: a) start with early targets and a technocratic style, but make adjustments if there are substantial protests or technical problems, and b) start with an emergent-adaptive style and formulate and enforce targets later, once technical and social stabilisation has occurred.  相似文献

A number of adult education innovations were introduced in Tanzania in the late 1960s and early 1970s. This article analyzes the context of three innovations, namely functional literacy, workers' education and the programme of the Folk Development Colleges. The analysis reveals that these innovations had firm roots within the socio-economic conditions prevailing in the country in the 1960s and 1970s, Nyerere's influence as President and Party leader, Tanzania's ideology of development, the policy of popular participation, the roots of educational policy in a humanistic philosophy of education, and indigenous education. Some of the factors which affected their implementation included lack of trained educators, inadequate financial resources, ineffective evaluation mechanisms, and a mis-match between participants' needs and actual programmes. It is suggested that there is a need to introduce economic innovations alongside educational innovations, to involve participants in determining their training needs, and to train and retain adult educators with a view to improving adult education initiatives in the country.
Zusammenfassung In Tansania wurden in den späten 60ern und den frühen 70ern einige Innovationen auf dem Gebiet der Erwachsenenbildung eingeführt. In diesem Artikel werden die Zusammenhänge zwischen drei Innovationen, nämlich funktionale Alphabetisierung, Arbeiterbildung und die Programme der Folk Development Colleges (Volksbildungsschulen), analysiert. Die Analyse zeigt, daß diese Innovationen in folgenden Gründen ihre Wurzeln haben: in den im Lande herrschenden sozialwirtschaftlichen Bedingungen der 60er und 70er Jahre, Nyerere's Einfluß als Präsident und Parteivorstand, Tansanias Ideologie der Entwicklung, der Politik der Volksbeteiligung, den Wurzeln der Erziehungspolitik in einer humanistischen Erziehungsphilosophie und im einheimischen Schulwesen. Einige der Gründe, die ihre Verwirklichung beeinflußten, lagen im Mangel an ausgebildeten Lehrern, unzureichenden Finanzquellen, ineffektiven Evaluierungs-mechanismen und einer schlechten Abstimmung zwischen den Bedürfnissen der Teilnehmer und den tatsächlichen Programmen. Der Autor stellt fest, daß es nötig sei, zusammen mit den Innovationen auf dem Gebiet der Erziehung auch wirtschaftliche Innovationen einzuführen, die Teilnehmer bei der Feststellung ihres Bedarfs an Bildung einzubeziehen und die Lehrer der Erwachsenen zwecks Verbesserung der Initiativen in der Erwachsenenbildung im Lande auszubilden und zu behalten.

Résumé Des innovations en matière d'éducation des adultes ont été introduites en Tanzanie à la fin des années 60 et au début des années 70. Cet article analyse le contexte de trois de ces innovations, à savoir l'alphabétisation fonctionnelle, l'éducation des travailleurs et le programme des Collèges du développement populaire. Cette analyse met en évidence que ces innovations étaient intimement liées aux conditions socio-économiques prévalant dans le pays à cette époque-là, à l'influence de Nyerere en tant que président et chef du parti, à l'idéologie tanzanienne de développement, à la politique de participation populaire, à la politique d'éducation ancrée dans une philosophie éducative humaniste et à l'éducation indigène. Le nombre insuffisant de maîtres formés, l'inadéquation des ressources financières, les mécanismes inefficaces d'évaluation et la disparité entre les besoins des participants et les programmes proposés sont quelques-uns des facteurs ayant entravé leur mise en oeuvre, L'auteur suggère qu'on introduise des innovations économiques à côté de celles éducatives, que les participants prennent part à la définition de leurs besoins de formation, qu'on forme et retienne les éducateurs d'adultes afin d'améliorer les innovations adoptées par le pays en matière d'éducation des adultes.

This article summarizes the current knowledge of response‐to‐intervention (RTI) models in preschool settings, with an emphasis on evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of our current research base. Particular attention is given to the unique challenges of high‐risk preschool settings. Presently, sufficient empirical support exists to begin establishing tiered intervention systems and building teacher capacity. Lacking, however, are valid and reliable assessment tools and insufficiently trained personnel to support a data‐based decision‐model within high‐risk preschools. We conclude that organizational development should focus on building teacher capacity, establishing high‐quality classroom instruction, and planning for sustainable programs, with adoption of a full RTI service delivery model serving as a long‐range aspirational goal. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

THE LITERATURE on cooperative learning suggests it can benefit mildly handicapped and nonhandicapped students academically, socially, and emotionally. This article emphasizes the cooperative learning approaches of Johnson and Johnson, Slavin, and other closely related practitioners. It discusses salient research on cooperative learning, shows how it can help meet student needs in heterogeneous classes, addresses how to overcome potential problems, and offers implementation guidelines. Performance improvement interventions, including training, are investments that can yield identifiable payoffs for an organization in the form of better job performance. Evaluation is vital to continuous improvement of human performance in the workplace. Without measures of effectiveness, organizations do not know whether dollars are being spent wisely and, consequently, whether to continue, modify, or improve performance interventions. There are several approaches for the evaluation of training programs. Few adequately cover the broader perspective of performance improvement. Various schemes and terms are used to describe facets for evaluating training programs. However, sometimes different terms describe the same event. At other times, quite different training evaluation activities are discussed by different authors using the same terms. The present article reviews six overall evaluation perspectives of corporate training programs: Kirkpatrick's four‐level approach; the CIRO approach; Hamblin's five‐level approach; Florida State University approach; Indiana University approach; and Phillips' five‐level approach. And four research areas for further study are recommended: overall evaluation models, causal relationships between evaluation categories, systematic research on how to evaluate the various categories, and appropriate uses of the results of evaluations.  相似文献
