Exploring the reading–writing connection in Chinese children with dyslexia in Hong Kong

Comparing the analyses based on the data of 1,235 Chinese children referred for government services and subsequently diagnosed as children with dyslexia in Hong Kong and those of 690 Chinese children in the sample for the normative study of the Hong Kong Test of Specific Learning Difficulties in Reading and Writing, we explored the reading–writing connection through a series of regression and correlation analyses. Specifically, orthographic knowledge, naming speed, and phonological memory were found to be salient predictors predicting both reading and writing, and when they were controlled and partialed out, the correlations between reading and writing were sizably attenuated, suggesting that these cognitive abilities or skills could act as third-variables contributing to the relationship between reading and writing. Issues related to causal inference, directionality of causality, and implications of the findings for intervention efforts and future research are discussed.     

新武吕溪水质监测之初步研究

台东县海端乡之新武吕溪,具有深潭、急濑和稳流等各种不同的河床型态,以及巨石、卵石、砾石与泥沙等底质材料,也因此新武吕溪蕴含丰富鱼类资源,但因垂钓者众多,水中生态渐渐受到破坏,为了保护珍贵的鱼类资源,海端乡公所于1999年3月公告禁止垂钓,进而开始执行溪流保育工作。因此,本研究着手调查保护区内水文及地文资料,并长期进行水质监测,调查成果如下：自2003年9月至2005年10月之pH值有降低趋势;保护区内在丰水期与枯水期期间之浊度有明显的区分;而温度的高低决定溶氧量含量,但调查结果中,温度变化不大,但溶氧量的变化却相当明显,故需再进行细部探讨;电导度与水中之溶存物质(NaCl)成反比,调查结果此现象于新武吕溪较明显。本研究之目的,希望藉由长期观测,减少仪器观测误差,而更有利于新武吕溪保护区之水质管理,并建立保护区内最佳指标值。     

徐谼《溪山琴况》中的儒道佛思想

明末清初徐谷共的《溪山琴况》是中国古琴美学史上最重要的著作,其内容乃是植基于儒道佛思想的影响下,以二十四况来论述古琴的演奏技巧与美感意境,然而徐谷共如何将儒道佛思想融入古琴艺术中?本文先将散见于历代琴论与琴谱提叙之所论者略作简要式的回顾,再看徐谷共对前人观点的传承是否随时空位移,而有逸出传统范式之外的新蕴产生。     

全球化时代经营大学要具备的三大观念

在全球化时代经营大学必须具备三大观念,即:企业经营观念,全球化人才观念,学生父母观念。在大学经营中最重要的就是资金与人事管理,管理人员应树立起企业经营的观念。造就21世纪真正的全球化人才,必须要兼备东西方的各种优点才行,只有在开放的思考,开放的思路,开放的知识环境下,才能树立起真正的全球化人才观念。大学是我们这个时代的良心,也是我们这个社会的良心,教授与教职员一定要以学生父母的心情和责任感,教育好我们的学生。     

韩国社会“教育热”起源与影响因素研究

教育热是家长对子女教育表现出的一种成就动机。在现代韩国社会,家长对子女教育的高度热衷以及由此而表现出的种种支援行为形成了韩国社会的多种教育热现象。在一个特定的社会环境下,教育热的产生不是一种孤立现象,而是多种社会文化因素共同作用的结果。文化背景、教育制度和经济结构等因素对家长的教育信念和支援行为有重要影响。本研究通过文献分析和史料收集,初步介绍了韩国教育热现象以及教育热发生、发展和变化的社会生态环境,对未来的研究议题和方向做出建议。     

A framework to explore lifelong learning: the case of the civic education of civics teachers

This study investigates learning about civics and citizenship throughout individuals' lives (lifelong) and across various pedagogical settings (lifewide). A basic hypothesis is that civics teachers, among all social actors, are particularly well positioned for engaging in this type of introspective exercise because they are both familiar with civics and politics and also with teaching and learning processes. The lifelong civic learning of civics teachers was examined in the different settings in which they acquire their knowledge, values, skills and ideological frameworks, and to understand the relative weight of each one in their overall learning process. This study also coincides with the implementation of a new provincial civics course for grade 10 students in Ontario, Canada during the 2000–1 school year. This case study consists of interviews with 15 social studies teachers who have taught the new civics course in Ontario. One of the clearest findings of the study is the powerful influence of the experience of teaching and of early family socialization on the acquisition of civic knowledge, skills and values, and on the development of political beliefs. Civic engagement and political participation were also considered an important source of civic learning, particularly in relation to the acquisition of civic and political skills. This is a finding that deserves further exploration, because our understanding of social movement learning remains limited. The findings suggest the promotion of lifelong citizenship learning entails the creation and nurturing of inclusive democratic spaces that have particularly high civic educational potential.     

Characteristics of bifurcation and buckling load of space truss in consideration of initial imperfection and load mode

This study investigated characteristics of bifurcation and critical buckling load by shape imperfection of space truss,which were sensitive to initial conditions.The critical point and buckling load were computed by the analysis of the eigenvalues and determinants of the tangential stiffness matrix.The two-free-nodes example and star dome were selected for the case study in order to examine the nodal buckling and global buckling by the sensitivity to the eigen buckling mode and the analyses of the influence,and characteristics of the parameters as defined by the load ratio of the center node and surrounding node,as well as rise-span ratio were performed.The sensitivity to the imperfection of the initial shape of the two-free-nodes example,which occurs due to snapping at the critical point,resulted in bifurcation before the limit point due to the buckling mode,and the buckling load was reduced by the increase in the amount of imperfection.The two sensitive buckling patterns of the numerical model are established by investigating the displaced position of the free nodes,and the asymmetric eigenmode greatly influenced the behavior of the imperfection shape whether it was at limit point or bifurcation.Furthermore,the sensitive mode of the two-free-nodes example was similar to the in-extensional basis mechanism of a simplified model.The star dome,which was used to examine the influence among several nodes,indicated that the influence of nodal buckling was greater than that of global buckling as the rise-span ratio was higher.Besides,global buckling is occurred with reaching bifurcation point as the value of load ratio was higher,and the buckling load level was about 50%-70% of load level at limit point.     

中国与韩国大学生就业问题比较

中韩两国地域、文化、经济发展水平相近，受经济结构调整和高等教育大众化政策实施的影响，大学毕业生就业矛盾越来越突出。本文从两国经济与失业状况的比较入手，全面考察了大学生的就业形势和形成就业困难的原因，分析了经济与高教发展对学生就业的正负面作用。
