The Proliferation of Piracy in the Publishing Supply Chains of Emerging Countries: A Study in Vietnam

Book piracy is a significant problem throughout the world and particularly in emerging countries. Such a phenomenon is costly to all participants in the publishing supply chain. This paper aims to investigate factors that influence Vietnamese students’ purchases of photocopied textbooks. The findings reveal that students’ purchases are motivated by their perceived value, subjective norms representing social influence and the lack of regulation enforcement. Using these findings, this paper suggests interventions for policymakers, publishers, distributors and universities to limit the purchase of pirated textbooks as well as to improve the value of original textbooks.

An anatomy of authority: the Bologna and ASEM education secretariats as policy actors and region builders

ABSTRACT

This paper examines the sources of authority behind the Bologna and ASEM secretariats’ technocratic appearance and administrative routines, and argues that they are transnational policy actors in their own right. By drawing on principal-agent theory and the concept of ‘authority’, it offers an alternative framework for understanding the various forms of authority. The case studies generate three important insights. First, it shows how the secretariats derive their authority from the tasks delegated by states, the moral values and social purpose they uphold, and the expertise they possess. Second, it compares how the different governance structures of the Bologna and ASEM education processes impact on the secretariats’ authority. Third, it highlights how the secretariats exercise their respective authorities and exert their discernible influence at different stages of higher education policy-making and region-building processes.     

越南语的"bi"字句对越南学生学习汉语"被"字句的影响

本利用前人的研究成果，分别系统地概括了汉语的“被”字句和越南语的“bi”字句的语法、语义结构及特点。通过对比指出两之间是在语法结构、语义关系上的异同，明确了相互成分之间的对应关系。从第二语言的教与学的角度，初步论述了“bi”字句对越南学生学习汉语“被”字句的正负迁移的影响，以期为对外汉语教学提供一些有益的帮助。     

重塑课程理念改革课堂教学

新一轮课程改革正在顺利推进，它所创导的理念也正在深入每位教师的心中，新的理念是教师实践经验的升华，也是教师教学反思后的新变化。但理念的转变并不意味着行动的落实，只有深入课堂才能感受到新课程的气息，也只有从教师的课堂教学行为才能看到这种可喜的变化。
