Generally speaking, I don’t read articles about emotional intelligence. As a matter of course, I avoid them. If I see EI, I just keep scrolling. Why? Well, I haven’t really wanted to know if I’m emotionally intelligent or unintelligent. 相似文献

I don't think many of you would argue that 2020, 2021, and 2022 have been three of the most difficult years of our lifetimes. Sure, good things have happened to us individually, but it's been a tough time in many arenas, such as: public health; federal and state government; politics; economics; religion; civilization; and elementary, secondary, and higher education. I dare say no one has been immune to facing challenges in some, if not all, of these realms. All events during this three-year period are intertwined with the global pandemic of COVID-19. 相似文献

Next month I will have been retired for five years. It really seems unbelievable to me. Since I retired, the world has experienced a pandemic, and I have had quite a few never-before experiences. I was hospitalized for coronavirus disease, and my brother-in-law was hospitalized with COVID and died of a brain bleed. My older sister fell in her home and shattered both ankles, both knees, and a femur. My mother had a heart attack two days after my brother-in-law died and was diagnosed with vascular dementia; she died a year later. My husband and I opened and closed a small business. He has had open-heart surgery, an injury that resulted in spinal fusion, and two hand surgeries. My youngest granddaughter started middle school! We’ve endured an eight-month renovation of our home. Whew! It's just hard to fathom all that in five years. 相似文献

“Paying it forward” is not a new concept. It's probably as old as time. But in the past few years, the phrase has gained popularity. The meaning is simple. Paying it forward is to return a kindness to someone else rather than the original benefactor, and thus expand its reach. 相似文献

This paper explores the connections between Physical Education, nationalism and citizenship in England and Wales focusing upon how education legislation, in particular the National Curriculum (NC) and Local Management of Schools (LMS), are implicated in the cultural production of ideational differences between and amongst the peoples of England and Wales. As our previous research has centred heavily on the making and implementation of education policy and PE in England, we take this opportunity to adjust our gaze and focus squarely on issues of cultural production in Wales, particularly relationships between the construction of images of Welsh identity and education policy and practice relating to PE and sport in schools. The analysis highlights that tendencies towards a narrow, conservative, cultural restoration are as evident in Wales as they are in England and obstruct progression towards more innovative and progressive ideals. 相似文献

One of the worst things a leader, manager, or boss can do is waste their employees’ time. By doing so, you are keeping your employees from being as productive as they could be. 相似文献

Before I was a chief academic officer, I was a dean for 12 years. At different times, and at various colleges, I was dean of arts and sciences, academic support, an evening and weekend college, and the main campus of a multi‐campus college. One thing is for certain: There is an important skill set necessary for a successful deanship. 相似文献

The first time I flew into New York City, I was amazed. I'd never seen that many skyscrapers so tightly woven into the landscape. I thought it looked like a circuit board. 相似文献

I asked my nine‐year‐old granddaughter what she'd been doing one day. She told me she woke up at 4 a.m. and played on her iPad until 8 a.m. Then she said, “I did my online classes.” She said it as if she'd had online classes for years. I laughed and thought, “What are you, in college?” 相似文献

On July 1, I celebrated my 35th anniversary working in higher education. Around this time each year I take time to reflect upon my career. I suggest that you set an annual time to do the same. It might be around the new year, or on your work anniversary, or on your career anniversary, or any time that makes sense for you. It's important to do so if what you want is a meaningful, well‐planned‐out career and not just a string of jobs. 相似文献
