Students' Perceptions of Interpersonal Aspects of the Learning Environment

This study examined variables associated with differences in students' perceptions of interpersonal teacher behavior. The perceptions of 3023 students and 74 teachers in 168 classes in seven secondary schools were used in the analyses. Investigating variance at the student, class, teacher and school levels revealed that several variables are significantly related to students' perceptions: student and teacher gender, student and teacher ethnic background, student age and grade, class size, grade level, subject taught and teacher experience. There were interaction effects between some variables, such as student ethnicity and student gender, as well as student and teacher gender. While significant, the amount of variance explained by these was low (around 10%). The outcomes generally confirmed earlier research, although some new effects were found. Perhaps the main result of the study was its verification of the complex and interactive nature of students' perceptions of the learning environment and researchers' understanding of it.

The didactical use of models in realistic mathematics education: An example from a longitudinal trajectory on percentage

The purpose of this article is to describe how, within the Dutch approach to mathematics education, called Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), models are used to elicit students' growth in understanding of mathematics. First some background information is given about the characteristics of RME related to the role of models in this approach. Then the focus is on the use of the bar model within a longitudinal trajectory on percentage that has been designed for Mathematics in Context, a curriculum for the U.S. middle school. The power of this model is that it develops alongside both the teaching and the students: from a drawing that represents a context related to percentage to a strip for estimation and reasoning to an abstract tool that supports the use of percentage as an operator. 稻草制羧甲基纤维素钠的研究

介绍以稻草为原料制备羧甲基纤维素纳的工艺条件。实验得出稻草纤维素醚化反应的最佳条件是：稻草纤维素钠、氢氧化钠、一氯乙酸的物料比为8∶3.5∶3；溶剂乙醇的含水量为30％；在70℃条件下反应5小时．纤维素醚化度可达0．8以上，是水溶性较好的纤维素钠．     

麦饭石添加剂对育肥猪增重效果

在定远麦饭石粉中添加Cu、Zn、Fe等,制成麦饭石添加剂,分别以1%和o.4%的量加入日粮中,饲喂育肥猪.试验58天,结果比对照组分别提高增重7.7%和3.5%,分别降低饲料消耗7.05%和3.39%,头均降低成本分别为13.40元和6.24元.肉质检测发现,各器官P_b含量较对照组降低1.1-18倍.     

Internalizing or externalizing: Screening for both problem youth

This study is an initial report of work to develop simple procedures to screen out children and adolescents who internalize or externalize their psychological problems. Such screening procedures can easily be used in classrooms by teachers, peers, children themselves or other observers who know the students in class. Most children are referred to counseling services because they are disturbing to others or externalizing their problems. However, other children who internalize their problems get much less attention of teachers and referral to counseling services. Instead of working mainly with referred children, counselors need to make sure that both children are screened out so that their services could be equally disturbed. The screening procedures in this study are intended to help in identifying particularly the "internalizer" who may get neglected in distribution of counseling services.     

Identification of technology options for reducing nitrogen pollution in cropping systems of Pujiang

This work analyses the potential role of nitrogen pollution technology of crop systems of Pujiang, County in Eastern China‘s Zhejiang Province, rice and vegetables are important cropping systems. We used a case study approach involving comparison of farmer practices and improved technologies. This approach allows assessing the impact of technology on pollution, is forward looking, and can yield information on the potential of on-the-shelf technology and provide opportunities for technology development. The approach particularly suits newly developed rice technologies with large potential of reducing nitrogen pollution and for future rice and vegetables technologies. The results showed that substantial reductions in nitrogen pollution are feasible for both types of crops.
