Chinese and Canadian Children's Evaluations of Lying and Truth Telling: Similarities and Dfferences in the Context of pro-and Antisocial Behaviors

The present study compared Chinese and Canadian children's moral evaluations of lie and truth telling in situations involving pro- and antisocial behaviors. Seven-, 9-, and 11-year-old Chinese and canadian children were presented 4 brief stories. Two stories involved a child who intentionally carried out a good deed, and the other2 stories involved a child who intentionally carried out a bad deed. When story characters were questioned by a teacher as to who had committed the deed, they either lied or told the truth. Children were asked to evaluate the story characters' deeds and their verbal statements. Overall, Chinese children rated truth telling less positively and lie telling more positively in prosocial settings than Canadian children, indicating that the emphasis on self-effacement and modesty in Chinese culture overrides Chinese children's evaluations of lying in some situations. Both Chinese and canadian children rated trugh telling positively and lie telling negatively in antisocial situations, reflecting the emphasis in both cultures on the distinction between misdeed and truth/lie telling. The findings of the present study suggest that, in the realm of lying and truth telling, a close relation between sociocultural practices and moral judgment exists. Specific social and cultural norms have an impact on children's developing moral judgments, which in turn, are modified by age and experience in a particular culture.     

完善企业境外投资的财政金融政策支持体系

随着经济全球化的发展,企业跨国投资的步伐愈来愈快。在跨国投资过程中,企业也会面临各种困难与风险。发达国家在企业跨国投资过程中,运用税收、信贷、保险等金融手段对境外投资给予促进和必要的制约,从而分散企业的经营风险。我国企业在跨国投资过程中,也应该借鉴国际经验,建立和完善企业境外投资的税收制度,加大企业信贷优惠政策扶持力度,完善企业境外投资保险制度、企业境外投资准备金制度、中小企业境外投资的融资政策等,以分散企业的经营风险。     

Internship: integrating theory and practice

This article describes a number of special features of the internship programme which has been developed at the Southern Cross University (SCU) in collaboration with the North Coast Region of the Department of School Education, the Catholic Education Office with selected primary schools. Arrangements are described for interns’ time spent in classrooms, collaborative teaching strategies which underpin these placements, the security which supports interns’ practice and approaches to integrate their practice with university studies. Processes of appraisal of interns’ development are explained, and the potential of mentoring for their teachers’ professional development is examined. Throughout the article, the congruence of these arrangements with Schools Council recommendations is considered.     

民族地区中小学图书馆室建设探索

人们对中小学校图书馆室等基础功能设施建设重视不够。文章从图书馆室的装备、管理和效益三个方面,结合民族地区的特点和教育现状,提出了民族地区中学小校图书馆室建设和管理模式,供当地教育行政部门和学校参考。     

Tandem Biocatalysis by CotA-TJ102@UIO-66-NH2 and Novozym 435 for Highly Selective Transformation of HMF into FDCA

2,5-Furandicarboxylic acid(FDCA) is a potential biorenewable chemical for applications including plastics, polyamides, drugs, etc. The selective biosynthesis of FDCA from 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF) by a specific enzyme poses a great challenge. In this study, we reported an efficient strategy to produce FDCA from HMF by the tandem biocatalysis of laccase(Cot A-TJ102@UIO-66-NH_2) and Novozym 435. For the first step, a nanoparticle metal–organic framework was synthesized as a carrier to immobilize Cot A-TJ102@UIO-66-NH_2, which was assigned for the production of 5-formyl-2-furancarboxylic acid(FFCA) and featured an enzyme loading of 255.54 mg/g, specific activity of 135.90 U/mg, and solid loading ratio of 99.65%. Under optimal conditions, an ideal FFCA yield of 98.5% was achieved, and the Cot A-TJ102@UIO-66-NH_2 presented a high recycling capacity after 10 cycles. For the second step, Novozym 435 was applied for the further conversion of FFCA into FDCA, presenting a high FDCA yield of 95.5% under the optimized conditions. Novozym 435 also exhibited a high recyclability after eight cycles. As a result, the tandem biocatalysis strategy provided a 94.2% FDCA yield from HMF, indicating its excellence as a method for FDCA production.     

Ecological Mural as Community Reconnection

Murals are particularly visually captivating forms of public art due to their size and accessibility. Mural images also capture public attention and provoke viewers to explore layers of meaning and find hidden stories. They are often in places that people come to visit, study, play, congregate and discuss matters that may relate to the content of the mural. To this end, murals can be effective tools for helping communities think about their environmental issues. This article discusses the Mystic River mural project in Somerville, Massachusetts, USA. It addresses how the local art councils, mural artists, local students, community members and non‐profit organisations collaborated to carry out this ongoing mural project. The purpose of this research is to examine how Mystic River eco‐murals were created, what challenges and benefits the eco‐murals provided, how local social concerns were represented through the eco‐murals, how eco‐murals can continue to promote environmental awareness and inspire youth about their community and the local environment, and how the mural can continue to reflect or affect the meaning of the place. This process can serve as an example for other communities that seek to address their environmental concerns through public art.     

就业、创业教育模式新探——以赛扶教育为例

赛扶又称＂全球大学生企业家联盟＂,是一个全球性的大学生公益创业实践组织,对大学生的创业、就业素质培养和实践教育具有重要作用。探求赛扶组织成功的奥秘,用心理学、教育学的方法配合调查问卷结果分析其利用社会资源,构建就业、创业教育实践平台模式;体验式就业、创业教育的模式;创业精英意识培养的模式,并对现在的就业、创业教育中的瓶颈问题提出可行性方案,可以帮助学生更好地进行创业、就业。     

《电力电子学》多媒体交互式虚拟实验的实现技术

该文介绍了针对大学本科基础专业课程《电力电子学》教学课件中虚拟实验的实现技术。Flash软件的ActionScript是一种面向对象的编程方法,通过Flash深入编程,该研究实现了由JAVA编程达到的虚拟试验效果,同时探索了严格意义上的交互式虚拟课件的技术实现方法。     

The Effects of a Kit-Based Science Curriculum and Intensive Science Professional Development on Elementary Student Science Achievement

The science achievement of 226 5th graders from districts that have a kit-based inquiry science curriculum supported by intensive professional development (PD) is compared with data from a group of 173 5th graders from other districts that use nonkit science materials and do not have systematic science PD for teachers. Within the kit-based project, the sample of project teachers is stratified to select teachers with a high number of science PD hours versus those with few hours. While there were no significant differences in the mean total scores for kit-based students with low PD versus high PD teachers, the kit-based classrooms scored significantly higher than students in nonkit classrooms on both the pretest and posttest, though there were significantly more minutes of science instruction in the nonkit classrooms. Finally, nonkit teachers taught more units of shorter length and reported lower levels of preparedness to use reform pedagogical approaches.     

非税收入规范化管理研究

非税收入是政府收入体系的一个有机组成部分。我国非税收入管理的突出问题是数额大,征收主体多元化,管理规范性差,带来严重负面效应。本文在分析上述问题形成原因的基础上,提出改革和规范我国非税收入管理的思路,即对非税收入的不同种类区别对待,分流归位,依法立项,建立和完善规范化征管体系,并以治本为目的实施财政、行政、法制、投融资等方面的配套改革,文中还就此提出了一系列具体措施建议。
