ESL写作中母语负迁移现象的实证研究及其教学启示

本文根据迁移理论,以ESL写作为例进行了实证研究,探讨因母语负迁移而引起的典型错误,希望对改进大学英语写作教学有所启示。提出在英语写作教学中运用恰当的措施,要有正确的认知态度和广泛的英语阅读与真实的写作情境。     

Wearable skin-like optoelectronic systems with suppression of motion artifacts for cuff-less continuous blood pressure monitor

According to the statistics of the World Health Organization, an estimated 17.9 million people die from cardiovascular diseases each year, representing 31% of all global deaths. Continuous non-invasive arterial pressure (CNAP) is essential for the management of cardiovascular diseases. However, it is difficult to achieve long-term CNAP monitoring with the daily use of current devices due to irritation of the skin as well as the lack of motion artifacts suppression. Here, we report a high-performance skin-like optoelectronic system integrated with ultra-thin flexible circuits to monitor CNAP. We introduce a theoretical model via the virtual work principle for predicting the precise blood pressure and suppressing motion artifacts, and propose optical difference in the frequency domain for stable optical measurements in terms of skin-like devices. We compare the results with the blood pressure acquired by invasive (intra-arterial) blood pressure monitoring for >1500 min in total on 44 subjects in an intensive care unit. The maximum absolute errors of diastolic and systolic blood pressure were ±7/±10 mm Hg, respectively, in immobilized, and ±10/±14 mm Hg, respectively, in walking scenarios. These strategies provide advanced blood pressure monitoring techniques, which would directly address an unmet clinical need or daily use for a highly vulnerable population.     

Identifying needs and enhancing learning about climate change adaptation for water professionals at the post-graduate level

Using a participatory learning approach, we report on the delivery and evaluation of a climate change and risk assessment tool to help manage water risks within the agricultural sector. Post-graduate water-professional students from a range of countries, from both developed and emerging economies were involved in using this tool. Our approach included participative learning tools – group discussion, software, and risk matrices. The materials developed met the needs of the students, allowing these students to incorporate their learning and adapt the package of materials for use in their home countries. Analysis of evaluations show that the tools and materials are particularly useful and emphasizes the need for sound learning materials and tools, funding to deliver training, and policy support to accelerate education and adoption of authentic climate change adaptation practices. The expected benefits for water professionals about climate change will be translated into improved socioeconomic and environmental outcomes if adopted.     

乡镇高中英语教学亟待解决的问题及对策

英语作为世界性语言,在社会经济的发展中起着越来越重要的作用。本文根据我国英语教学所面临的新形势,针对乡镇地区英语教学水平偏下的现状及存在的问题进行了分析,论述了问题产生的原因,提出了解决问题的观点和建议。     

Use of behavior modification with academically gifted students: A review of the research

This article responds to attitudes about giftedness in M. Sapon‐Shevin's article, “Explaining Giftedness to Parents: Why it Matters What Professionals Say.” Giftedness is not a reward or a privilege, but an aspect of a child's individuality that should be understood and taken into account by the educational system. Gifted children's needs are not solely academic, and it is parents who are responsible for meeting those needs. They need information from as many sources as possible. They are also excellent sources of information themselves, so the relationship between professionals and parents should be reciprocal. This article also responds to some of Sapon‐Shevin's objections to the book Guiding the Gifted Child, (Webb, Meckstroth, Tolan, 1982). In the preparation of this article, the writer worked closely with coauthors James T. Webb and Elizabeth Meckstroth, whose pioneering work with the SENG Project at Wright State University provided the basis of Guiding the Gifted Child.
