This study used qualitative and quantitative approaches to evaluate the effectiveness of self‐learning modules (SLMs) developed to facilitate and individualize students' learning of basic medical sciences. Twenty physiology and nineteen microanatomy SLMs were designed with interactive images, animations, narrations, and self‐assessments. Of 41 medical students, 40 students voluntarily completed a questionnaire with open‐ended and closed‐ended items to evaluate students' attitudes and perspectives on the learning value of SLMs. Closed‐ended items were assessed on a five‐point Likert scale (5 = high score) and the data were expressed as mean ± standard deviation. Open‐ended questions further evaluated students' perspectives on the effectiveness of SLMs; student responses to open‐ended questions were analyzed to identify shared patterns or themes in their experience using SLMs. The results of the midterm examination were also analyzed to compare student performance on items related to SLMs and traditional sessions. Students positively evaluated their experience using the SLMs with an overall mean score of 4.25 (SD ± 0.84). Most students (97%) indicated that the SLMs improved understanding and facilitated learning basic science concepts. SLMs were reported to allow learner control, to help in preparation for subsequent in‐class discussion, and to improve understanding and retention. A significant difference in students' performance was observed when comparing SLM‐related items with non‐SLM items in the midterm examination (P < 0.05). In conclusion, the use of SLMs in an integrated basic science curriculum has the potential to individualize the teaching and improve the learning of basic sciences. 以SD大鼠为实验动物,通过8 w的高能饲料摄入和4 w的运动锻炼后,检测其血清总蛋白、白蛋白含量,外周血CD3 细胞数量、CD4 、CD8 T细胞百分比的变化,来研究适度运动锻炼对高能饲料摄入动物免疫功能的影响。结果显示:适度运动锻炼明显提高CD3 T细胞数量,使CD4 T细胞百分比从55.2%-56.6%迅速上升到62.6%-63.0%,使高能饲料摄入组的CD8 T细胞百分比从56.2%极显著地下降到42.2%,从而使运动组的CD4 /CD8 的比值(1.49±0.10)显著高于对照组(1.01±0.07),表明适度运动锻炼具有显著促进正相免疫调节的作用。 相似文献

Previous experimental research that has found that college students exposed to a clip of the popular Comedy Central program entitled The Colbert Report were unable to distinguish its satirical intent from its stated content. To further investigate whether the show's viewers consume The Colbert Report as a satire of conservative television or construe it as a sincere expression of conservative sentiment, the present study examines the content of the program's online discussion forum. Along with the significant development of information and communication technologies (ICTSs), an incredible number of mobile applications have become available. Hence, the main purpose of the current study is to investigate the use and acceptance of the ‘Mobile Information System’ developed and implemented by University of Jordan, which Known as (Mobile Student Information System). Data were obtained from 275 undergraduate students of University of Jordan via questionnaire to test the ‘Mobile Services Acceptance Model’ using Structural Equation Model. The results reveal that user acceptance of mobile information system services is largely affected by trust, perceived security, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Findings also show that context of applications is a strong motivational factor of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, which then significantly affects user intention to use mobile information system. While, the personal characteristics and features do not have effect on user intentions. Both theoretical and practical implications of the study’s findings are discussed. 相似文献

Mulberry longicorn beetle, Apriona germari, has been reported to produce two endo-β-1,4-glucanases or AgEGases (accession Nos. Q6SS52 and Q5XQD1). AgEGase sequence contains catalytic motif (amino acid residues 37~48), which is the characteristic of family Glycohydrolase 45 and is identified as the substrate binding site. The application of bioinformatics ap-proaches includes sequence analysis, structural modeling and inhibitor docking to relate the structure and function of AgEGases. We have dissected the sequence and structure of AgEGase catalytic motif and compared it with crystal structure of Humicola insolens endoglucanases V. The results show an involvement of sulfur containing amino acid residues in the active site of the enzyme. Cys residues and position of disulfide bonds are highly conserved between the two structures of endoglucanases of A. germari. Surface calculation of AgEGase structure in the absence of Cys residues reveals greater accessibility of the catalytic site to the substrate involving Asp42, a highly conserved residue. For the inhibition study, tannin-based structure was docked into the catalytic site of AgEGase using ArgusLab 4.0 and it resulted in a stable complex formation. It is suggested that the inhibition could occur through formation of a stable transition state analog-enzyme complex with the tannin-based inhibitor, as observed with other insect cellulases in our laboratory. 相似文献

This study employs content analysis to examine how the New York Times and St. Louis Post-Dispatch framed “Black Lives Matter” protests in the aftermath of the shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown. The researchers examine all New York Times and St. Louis Post-Dispatch articles dealing centrally with the Michel Brown protests during three separate time periods corresponding to heavy protest activity. The coding scheme measured dominant frame direction, article length, sourcing, and mention of protester crimes. Contrary to expectations, the papers provided overwhelmingly sympathetic coverage of “Black Lives Matter” protests. In describing the protests, both newspapers were much more likely to employ a “positive” frame suggesting peacefulness and order than a “negative” frame suggesting lawlessness and deviance. Neither newspaper over-emphasized protester-perpetrated crimes, with both papers making relatively infrequent mention of looting, arson, assault, and gunfire, respectively. Importantly, both newspapers directly quoted protesters much more often than they quoted police officers and other government officials. 相似文献

This study describes the development and testing of a magnetic microfluidic chip (MMC) for
trapping and isolating cells tagged with superparamagnetic beads (SPBs) in a microfluidic
environment for selective treatment and analysis. The trapping and isolation are done in two
separate steps; first, the trapping of the tagged cells in a main channel is achieved by soft
ferromagnetic disks and second, the transportation of the cells into side chambers for isolation is
executed by tapered conductive paths made of Gold (Au). Numerical simulations were performed to
analyze the magnetic flux and force distributions of the disks and conducting paths, for trapping
and transporting SPBs. The MMC was fabricated using standard microfabrication processes. Experiments
were performed with E. coli (K12 strand) tagged with 2.8 μm SPBs.
The results showed that E. coli can be separated from a sample solution by trapping
them at the disk sites, and then isolated into chambers by transporting them along the tapered
conducting paths. Once the E. coli was trapped inside the side chambers, two
selective treatments were performed. In one chamber, a solution with minimal nutrition content was
added and, in another chamber, a solution with essential nutrition was added. The results showed
that the growth of bacteria cultured in the second chamber containing nutrient was significantly
higher, demonstrating that the E. coli was not affected by the magnetically driven
transportation and the feasibility of performing different treatments on selectively isolated cells
on a single microfluidic platform. 相似文献
