This study sought to determine whether weight status influences the association among children's fundamental movement skills (FMS) and physical activity (PA). Two hundred forty-eight children ages 9-12 years participated. Proficiency in three object-control skills and two locomotor skills was examined. Accelerometers objectively assessed physical activity. Body mass index was calculated to determine weight status. Correlations between physical activity and FMS proficiency were evident among boys and girls. No significant interaction was apparent when examining FMS proficiency scores, PA variables, and weight status. Future studies should examine a broader range of skills and types of activities to better characterize this relationship and to inform the promotion of movement skill proficiency and PA. 相似文献

Fundamental movement skills (FMS) competence is low in adolescent girls. An assessment tool for teachers is needed to monitor FMS in this demographic. The present study explored whether the Canadian Agility and Movement Skill Assessment (CAMSA) is feasible for use by physical education (PE) teachers of Australian Year 7 girls in a school setting. Surveys, focus group interviews, and direct observation of 18 specialist PE teachers investigated teachers’ perceptions of this tool. Results indicated that the CAMSA was usable in a real-world school setting and was considered a promising means to assess FMS in Year 7 girls. However, future iterations may require minor logistical alterations and further training for teachers on how to utilize the assessment data to enhance teaching practice. These considerations could be used to improve future design, application, and training of the CAMSA in school-based PE. 相似文献

Monkeys and rats were trained on an operant discrimination employing structured auditory stimuli (tunes). The rats acquired the tune discrimination very rapidly and considerably faster than the monkeys. Both species generalized the discrimination across intensity and octave transformations. Discriminative performance remained at a high level when only the first halves of the tunes were presented, but substantially less generalization occurred to the second halves. Rats trained with tones (broken or steady) required three to four times more training to reach criterion than did the rats trained with tunes. The potential of structured auditory stimuli for investigations of information-processing mechanisms in animals is pointed out. 相似文献

ABSTRACTQualitative metasynthesis (QM) is a research methodology that permits the meaningful integration and interpretation of qualitative research. This study applies a QM approach combined with constructivist grounded theory methods, bolstered by several features of research credibility, to examine the state of consultee-centered consultation (CCC) and related relational, process-oriented school consultation research. A systematic search and retrieval process including two rounds of appraisal resulted in a final sample of 38 relevant studies from 1995 to 2014. Data analyses included two stages of coding/theme development. Integrated themes suggest a number of considerations regarding consultation implementation including: system-level factors; consultation structure; consultee voice, social-emotional support, and learning; ecological orientation and cultural responsiveness; and consultation training. Future research priorities stemming from these themes are identified and elaborated upon, as are future applications for QM in educational research. 相似文献

This paper highlights the potential of three-dimensional multi-user environments such as Second Life (SL) from the perspective of future developments in the service of learning. It notes trends within the SL innovation to date, including the provision of realistic settings, the exploitation of pleasant simulated environments for groups and the links with other learning technologies. It also considers the creativity sparked by SL's potential to offer the illusion of 3-D 'spaces' and buildings, and points to infinite imaginative educational possibilities. A tube-in-square-pipe microfluidic glass cell has been developed for studying the aggregation and fiber formation from regenerated silk solution by in-situ small-angle X-ray scattering using synchrotron radiation. Acidification-induced aggregation has been observed close to the mixing point of the fibroin and buffer solution. The fibrous, amorphous material is collected in a water bath. Micro-wide-angle X-ray scattering of the dried material confirms its β-sheet nature. 相似文献

Conscious of the interplay between nature and nurture in determining a child’s individuality and success in life, the author
embarked a group of teachers in an action research project towards nurturing a culture of thinking in young children. Considering
the positive effects of routines in early learning experiences, the research consisted in implementing thinking routines to
engage young children’s minds in thinking activities. The study took place in two Reggio-inspired schools where participating
teachers documented children’s work as part of their teaching. The documentation was a key element to make children’s thinking
visible as they installed the culture and language of thinking in their classrooms. The study found that thinking routines
build up positive attitudes about thinking and learning. By re-visiting their documented work children developed metacognitive
and critical thinking skills which make them more alert to situations that call for thinking. 相似文献
