Genotype-phenotype correlations in Chinese patients with TGFBI gene-linked corneal dystrophy

In this paper, we report the clinical and molecular features of the distinct TGFBI (human transforming growth factor β-induced, OMIM No. 601692) gene-linked corneal dystrophy. Altogether, five pedigrees and ten unrelated individuals diagnosed as corneal dystrophy were recruited. Peripheral venous DNA was extracted, and then amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and scanned for mutation by single-stranded conformation polymorphism (SSCP). Direct DNA sequencing was used to analyze the mutations of the TGFBI gene. In our study, thirty patients from five pedigrees and ten sporadic patients were diagnosed as four TGFBI gene-linked corneal dystrophies of granular corneal dystrophy type I (GGCD I), Avellino corneal dystrophy (ACD), lattice corneal dystrophy type I (LCD I), and lattice corneal dystrophy type IIIA (LCD IIIA), and in total, seven disease-causing mutations, namely R555W, A546D, A546T, and T538P mutations in exon 12, R124H and R124C mutations in exon 4, and P501T mutation in exon 11, were identified, while four polymorphisms of V327V, L472L, F540F, and 1665-1666insC were screened in exons 8,11, and 12. The study ascertained the tight genotype-phenotype relationship and confirmed the clinical and genetic features of four TGFBI gene-linked corneal dystrophies.     

Association of hypomethylation of LINE-1 repetitive element in blood leukocyte DNA with an increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma

Global DNA hypomethylation has been associated with increased risk for cancers of the colorectum, bladder, breast, head and neck, and testicular germ cells. The aim of this study was to examine whether global hypomethylation in blood leukocyte DNA is associated with the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A total of 315 HCC cases and 356 age-, sex- and HBsAg status-matched controls were included. Global methylation in blood leukocyte DNA was estimated by analyzing long interspersed element-1 (LINE-1) repeats using bisulfite-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and pyrosequencing. We observed that the median methylation level in HCC cases (percentage of 5-methylcytosine (5mC)=77.7%) was significantly lower than that in controls (79.5% 5mC) (P=0.004, Wilcoxon rank-sum test). The odds ratios (ORs) of HCC for individuals in the third, second, and first (lowest) quartiles of LINE-1 methylation were 1.1 (95% confidence interval (CI) 0.7–1.8), 1.4 (95% CI 0.8–2.2), and 2.6 (95% CI 1.7–4.1) (P for trend <0.001), respectively, compared to individuals in the fourth (highest) quartile. A 1.9-fold (95% CI 1.4–2.6) increased risk of HCC was observed among individuals with LINE-1 methylation below the median compared to individuals with higher (>median) LINE-1 methylation. Our results demonstrate for the first time that individuals with global hypomethylation measured in LINE-1 repeats in blood leukocyte DNA have an increased risk for HCC. Our data provide the evidence that global hypomethylation detected in the easily obtainable DNA source of blood leukocytes may help identify individuals at risk of HCC.     

多通道神经信号激励模块的研制及其动物实验

为了研究植入式神经功能再生微电子系统,设计了功能激励神经信号产生模块.首先用分立器件设计并实现了体外应用的单通道功能激励神经信号产生模块,并将该模块成功应用于激励老鼠和兔子的坐骨神经和脊椎神经的神经功能再生微电子系统的动物试验.在此基础上,设计了用于12个电极点的卡肤电极或者10个电极点的剑状电极四通道神经信号激励模块.用5只老鼠和2只兔子进行了3次坐骨神经和脊髓神经束活体动物试验.试验中,功能激励神经信号产生模块再生了大鼠体内的自发神经信号和模拟的神经信号,模块所产生的信号使大鼠和兔子的腿部、尾巴甚至脚趾产生了相应的动作,验证了神经功能再生微电子系统的可行性.     

ICT和教师专业发展——瑞典案例介绍及理论框架

作为技术支持的教师专业发展（TETPD）国际比较研究的一部分,本文介绍了瑞典部分的背景、理论框架以及设计,关注的焦点是ICT与教育领域的教师专业发展（TPD）。其中,ICT被看作是一项能够支持教与学实践的技术。本文进一步的目的就是从两个维度为瑞典的多重个案研究提供一个框架：第一个维度是关于教师专业发展的权属和管理问题,既包括由上而下的政府项目,也包括由下而上由参与者推动的计划;第二个维度是关于教师专业发展的方法或者模式问题,既包含传统的面对面模式,也包含在线学习模式。通过该框架,我们选出了四个使用ICT进行教师专业发展的项目作为案例,并将其与关于TPD模型和项目的不同观点,以及Villegas-Reimers对TPD的新观点联系起来。最后,本文还讨论了这些项目在支持教与学中的ICT应用方面的意义和前景。

pH-Responsive and Buffering Macromolecule Aqueous Absorbent and Mathematic Model-Based Feasibility Evaluation for SO2 Capture

An organic macromolecule, poly(1-vinylimidazole), with an appropriate polymerization degree was proposed and mixed with water to form a novel aqueous absorbent for SO_2 capture. This aqueous solution absorbent has the advantages of simple preparation, good physicochemical properties, environment-friendliness, high ability in deep removal of SO_2, and excellent reusability. Moreover, pH-responsive behavior, pH buffering absorption mechanism, and their synergistic effect on absorption performance were revealed. The solubilities of SO_2 in the absorbent were measured in detail, and the results demonstrated excellent absorption capacity and recyclability. Then, mathematic models that describe SO_2 absorption equilibrium were established, and the corresponding parameters were estimated. More importantly, on the basis of model and experimental data, the absorption and desorption could maintain high efficiency within a wide operating region. In summary, this work provided a low-cost, efficient, and unique absorbent for SO_2 capture and verified its technical feasibility in industrial application.
