梭罗日记

1837年这一年梭罗从哈佛大学毕业,回到了故乡——马萨诸塞州的康科德。不久他就与另一位美国文学史上的非凡人物、住在邻近的拉尔夫·沃尔多·爱默生(拉尔夫·沃尔多·爱默生,1803—1882,美国散文家、思想家、诗人、演说家和美国19世纪超验主义文学运动的领袖。著有《论自然》、《人生的行为》等)有了密切的交往。也许部分要归功于爱默生榜样的作用,梭罗也开始了写作。他回到家乡后不久就开始写日记。当时写的日记只保存下来一部分,它们不仅包括作者个人的观察和一般的感想,还大量抄录他正在阅读的古典作家著作的段落——在某种程度上可以称作“备忘录”。此时他的文字风格还不够成熟,有一部分读起来颇为枯燥,但那不时闪烁的智慧的火花,却预示着一种完全个性化的、才华横溢的写作风格即将出现。

赤霉素对植物生长和开花的影响

Specifications of OCLC CJK Bibliographic Records And the Adoption of CJK Records from Asia

OCLC Online Computer Library Center, the largest library automation network in the world, links nearly 20,000 libraries in the Uaited States and 60 other countries and territories. Introducing a library automatian network of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean(CJK) characters in 1986, OCLC operates the largest CJK library network in the world in terms of the member of online CAK institutional asers. As of January 1, 1995, OCLC had 40 CJK users in the United States, Aastralia, Hong Kang and Taiwan. As of October 1, 1994, there were nearly 850, 000 unique CJK bibliographic records in the OCLC database. OCLC is interested in sharing the CJK bibliographic records, especially in loading CJK records created in Asia into the OCLC database. To this end, OCLC has entered into an agreement with the National Central Library, Taiwan; the National Library of China, and Waseda University, Japan, and is in negotiation to load the Japan-MARC records. Sharing of CJK bibliographic records between libraries in Asia and those in the United States is a complex task as the CJK records created in Asia and those created in the United States are not compatible. This paper explains the specifieatioas of the OCLC CJK records, and lists eight areas where the incompatibility exists. The following five areas of incompatibility are due to different cataloging practices: 1. AACR2; 2. name and subject authorities;3.romantzation; 4.subject headings; and 5.ctassification schemes. Three additional areas of incompatibility are technical in nature; 6.MARC format; 7.character set; and 8.internal code.     

Pathways to literacy: a study of invented spelling and its role in learning to read

This intervention study tested whether invented spelling plays a causal role in learning to read. Three groups of kindergarten children (mean age = 5 years 7 months) participated in a 4-week intervention. Children in the invented-spelling group spelled words as best they could and received developmentally appropriate feedback. Children in the 2 comparison groups were trained in phonological awareness or drew pictures. Invented-spelling training benefited phonological and orthographic awareness and reading of words used in the intervention. Importantly, the invented-spelling group learned to read more words in a learn-to-read task than the other groups. The finding are in accord with the view that invented spelling coupled with feedback encourages an analytical approach and facilitates the integration of phonological and orthographic knowledge, hence facilitating the acquisition of reading.
