ABSTRACTThe Borough of Manhattan Community College Library is using Microsoft SharePoint as an all-encompassing intranet to streamline library operations, maintain quality, and enhance decision-making by organizing, sharing, and managing information. Digitization of collection data was deemed necessary to increase data speed and accuracy, and improve harmony between library departments. Inspired by the distinction between hedonic and eudaimonic feeling states, we examined the distinction between feelings of pleasure and interest as well as subsequent motivation related to participation in outdoor events among students of physical education (n = 64) in a Norwegian university college. The students reported on their experiences during two three-day trips: one coastal trip and one ski trip. The participants also reported how they felt about the trips after one week and after one month. The feelings of pleasure and interest were contrasted by analysing mean scores, factor loadings and regression coefficients. Momentary experiences typically showed higher scores for feelings of interest than for feelings of pleasure, but there were some exceptions. The interest-higher-than-pleasure tendency tended to disappear for remembered experiences. The results support the notion that pleasure and interest are separable emotions with distinct functions, but our findings are far from conclusive. Implications for outdoor leadership and future research are discussed. 相似文献

This paper describes an Experimental academic program at Kent State University in which a volunteer, nonprofessional mode of teaching seems to have produced positive results. The phenomenon of volunteerism is puzzling, but the data collected from this Experimental program suggest that people like to teach and do it well when they are part of a divergent system of openness and continued growth. One hundred and twenty counseling students representing 10 programs across the United States were administered the Purdue Master Attitude Scale, the Defining Issues Test, the Index of Homophobia and a demographic questionnaire in an effort to identify attitudes of students to ward minority groups. A demographic profile of these counselors in traning presents a picture of the typical American. They are fairly young, mostly caucasian, middle class and were raised in traditional two-parent families.The results of the instruments administered indicate that counseling students appear to reflect the dominant culture attitude with respect to homophobia by demonstrating average to high homophobia, while the Purdue Master Attitude Scale reflects a somewhat overall positive attitude toward ethnic minorities.In terms of statistical analyses, level of moral judgment, as measured by the Defining Issues Test, was significantly related to attitude to ward ethnic and sexual preference minorities. Individuals with more favorable attitudes demonstrated higher levels of moral reasoning and vice versa. Higher frequency of experience with minorities was significantly related to lower homophobia scores and demonstrated a trend in the direction of better attitude scores.
