This study examined whether children’s learning from “Sesame Street” could be improved by having adults ask the children questions
and provide them with feedback while they watched the show. Subjects were 23 three- and four-year-old, white, middle-class
children who were randomly assigned to one of two conditions. Children in both conditions watched three specially edited versions
of “Sesame Street” with an adult. While they did so, children in the experimental condition were asked to name the letters
and numbers shown on the programs. Results indicated that 3 days after watching the last program, children in the experimental
condition were better able to name and identify the letters and numbers they had seen (p < .01). Three features of the experimental
treatment that may have contributed to these results are discussed, as are the implications of the findings. 相似文献
In the course of the fundamental reform of studies at the Austrian universities the education of grammar school teachers was renewed in 1971. In a long tradition (since 1855) teachers for upper secondary education, especially for grammar schools (which lead pupils to the matriculation qualification for university education) were prepared for their teacher admission examination by studies at the universities which comprised besides of subject matters theoretically introducing courses in pedagogy and psychology. Their practical training was organised in a guided probationary year at schools (apprenticeship‐type).
Since 1982 a new integrated (concurrent) preservice teacher education programme is realised at the Austrian universities, which combines subject studies (in two fields) with teachers’ professional preparation (comprising theoretical studies and practical activities and experiences in education and teaching). The new teacher education programme takes 4#fr1/2> years and leads to the academic degree of a master of arts or science, which gives full professional teacher qualification. The profession‐oriented parts include studies in education and psychology (10 semester course units: 150 hours), subject teaching studies (12‐24 semesters course units: 180‐360 hours) and a 12‐week period of practical teaching experience. Each university designs within this framework a specific study programme. An overview is given in the paper; the programme of the university of Graz is shown in more detail as an example.

Reflection on events at work, including errors is often as a means to learn effectively through work. In a cross-sectional
field study in the banking sector, we investigated attitudes towards workplace errors (i.e. error orientation) as predictors
of reflective activity. We assumed the organisational climate for psychological safety to have a mediating effect. The study
participants were 84 client advisors from the retail banking departments in branches of a German bank. The client advisors’
were being affected by a range of changes in their workplaces at the time of the data collection. This situation afforded
these workers opportunity for learning but also involved the risk of error by these staff. Regression analyses identified
that error competence and learning from errors were significant predictors of reflection. The results confirmed the mediating
role of psychological safety on the association between attitudes towards errors and reflective working behaviour. 相似文献

The unique relations of effortful control and impulsivity to resiliency and adjustment were examined when children were 4.5 to 8 years old, and 2 years later. Parents and teachers reported on all constructs and children's attentional persistence was observed. In concurrent structural equation models, effortful control and impulsivity uniquely and directly predicted resiliency and externalizing problems and indirectly predicted internalizing problems (through resiliency). Teacher-reported anger moderated the relations of effortful control and impulsivity to externalizing problems. In the longitudinal model, all relations held at T2 except for the path from impulsivity to externalizing problems. Evidence of bidirectional effects also was obtained. The results indicate that effortful control and impulsivity are distinct constructs with some unique prediction of resiliency and adjustment. 相似文献
Environment protection and environment education on the one hand and elements of a new way of teacher education linked with the general world of work on the other hand, basically form the frame of reference of this study. At first, both references came along independently of each other. In view of the political and educational actuality of environment education, however, both references can easily be combined. On the one hand, many teacher students, while working on their projects, take an interest in topics of environment protection and environment education on their own initiative. On the other hand, in the general world of work and industry these topics have been taken up as for instance in developing hydrogen energy engines. In this paper we deal with the field of solar hydrogen energy and the solar hydrogen cycle, from curricular points of view and in particular from the aspect of communication and acceptance. Thus it builds the bridge from the first point of reference, environment protection and environment education, to the second point of reference, the new concept of teacher education in combination with the general world of work and industry.相似文献
We propose a process of contextualization based on seven empirically derived contextualization principles, aiming to provide opportunities for Indigenous Mexican adolescents to learn science in a way that supports them in fulfilling their right to an education aligned with their own culture and values. The contextualization principles we empirically derived account for Nahua students' cultural cognition, socialization, and cultural narratives, thus supporting Indigenous students in navigating the differences between their culture and the culture and language of school while learning complex science concepts such as natural selection. The process of curricular contextualization we propose is empirically driven, taking culture and socialization into account by using multiples sources (cognitive tasks to explore teleology, ethnographic observation of students' community and classroom, and interviews with students and community members) and builds on the scholarship in Culturally Relevant Pedagogy and Indigenous Education. We used these principles to redesign a middle school biology unit on natural selection to make it more culturally relevant for Nahua students. The enactment of this unit resulted in students being engaged in science learning and achieving significant learning gains. The significance of this study lies in presenting evidence that learning science in culturally relevant ways supports the learning of challenging biology concepts. We provide evidence that Western science can be learned in ways that are more aligned with Indigenous students' Traditional Indigenous Knowledge, thus informing the implementation of educational policies aiming to improve the quality of secondary education for Indigenous adolescents. Our proposed contextualization principles can benefit students of all cultural identities who feel that their religion, language, or traditional knowledge are not aligned with school science, facilitating their access to culturally relevant science education. 相似文献
