This study examined two screening instruments designed to measure phonemic awareness (Test of Auditory Analysis Skills‐TAAS and Yopp‐Singer Test of Phoneme Segmentation). Participants included 25 second‐semester kindergarten children who were administered both instruments. The dependent measure (the STAR Reading Test) was administered in February of their First‐Grade year. The investigation was designed to determine if these instruments are both evaluating the same skills and identify which was more effective in predicting success in reading near the end of First Grade. The children's scores from the Yopp‐Singer and the TAAS were correlated (r=0.56, p<0.01) and so were the scores between the TAAS and STAR (r=0.51, p<0.01). Comparison of scores between the Yopp and the STAR produced non‐significant results (r=0.31). Although the TAAS produced a higher correlation with reading achievement than the Yopp‐Singer, the difference between these two measures failed to reach significance (t=1.16). Implications of these findings, along with possible explanations of the results, are discussed. 相似文献

Within the context of a brief history of information technology in teacher education (ITTE), current research on ITTE is reviewed.
It is argued that ITTE research can be categorized into three paradigms: empirical, critical, and interpretive. The need for

needs for more sharing of information of “islands of excellence” in work on technology in teacher education, more case studies
on diffusion of innovation, more emphasis on bias-related findings from critical theory, and more development and dissemination
of resources and tools for using technology effectively in teacher education. Recommendations for further work in the area

As such, doing things faster is becoming just as important as doing them better and cheaper. Increased efficiency, however, will not be attained simply by imploring employees to work harder or by increasing employee workloads. Increased efficiency can only be accomplished through the systematic analysis and reengineering of our work processes, including the elimination or minimization of all associated non-value adding process steps. DO•CA•TIM, a seven-step methodology for systematically identifying and eliminating or minimizing non-value adding process steps, is presented. Large-scale writing programs can add value to the traditional timed writing assessment by using aspects of the essays to assess the effectiveness of institutional goals, programs, and curriculums. The “six learning goals” prompt in this study represents an attempt to provide an accurate writing assessment that moves beyond scores. This paper focuses on student challenges to the prompt and testing situation to reveal that many students successfully challenge the task as a deliberate strategy, while less savvy test-takers clearly resist in response to anger, confusion or frustration. While only a small minority of test-takers openly protest the prompt or testing situation, the paper suggests that all students could be better prepared to reflect upon their university experience in timed essays through more coaching and experience with reflective impromptu questions. This finding offers both encouragement and caution for writing programs seeking a single test that can generate both placement scores and valuable feedback. 相似文献
