The special wind compensation system recently adopted by Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS; International Ski Federation) to consider the effects of changing wind conditions has caused some controversy. Here, the effect of wind on jumping distance in ski jumping was studied by means of computer simulation and compared with the wind compensation factors used by FIS during the World Cup season 2009/2010. The results showed clearly that the effect of increasing head/tail wind on jumping distance is not linear: +17.4 m/ ? 29.1 m, respectively, for a wind speed of 3 m/s. The linear formula used in the trial period of the wind compensation system was found to be appropriate only for a limited range of jumping distances as the gradient of the landing slope slows down the rate of distance change in long jumps. 相似文献

Persistent biomechanical and jumping capacity alterations have been observed among female athletes who have sustained anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. The purpose of this study was to examine if biomechanical jumping differences persist among a cohort of elite female handball players with previous ACL reconstruction several years after return to top-level competition. In order to achieve this goal, a direct mechanics simplified analysis by using a single Inertial Sensor Unit (IU) was used. Twenty-one elite female (6 anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed and 15 uninjured control players) handball players were recruited and evaluated 6.0 ± 3.5 years after surgical anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Bilateral and unilateral vertical jumps were performed to evaluate the functional performance and a single inertial sensor unit was employed in order to collect 3D acceleration and 3D orientation data. Previously ACL-reconstructed analysed athletes demonstrated significant (p < 0.05) alterations in relation to the three-dimensional axis (X–Y–Z) supported accelerations and differing jump phase durations, including jumping performance values, in both bilateral and unilateral jumping manoeuvres several years after ACL reconstruction. Identification of the encountered deficits through the use of an IU devise could provide clinicians with a new reliable tool for movement analysis in a clinical setting. 相似文献

This paper investigates the optimisation of the chain drive system on sports motorcycles. Recently there has been the development
of a chain transmission efficiency model that is suitable for motorcycles. The new model is used to predict the efficiency
of 600cc sports motorcycle at different speeds. The transmission efficiency is estimated to be between 96 and 99% for speeds
less than 75 mile/h. Between 75 and 150 mile/h the transmission efficiency can be as low as 85% due to inertial tension. The
transmission efficiency model presented in this paper enables optimisation of sprocket and chain sizes. In general, large
sprockets are better at low speeds and smaller sprockets are better at high speeds. The optimum chain size is the chain with
the smallest pitch that can meet the torque and power requirement. The sprocket centre distance also has a big effect on efficiency
and it is important to use an effective installation procedure. In particular, it is important to set a chain up when the

The paper proposes a Vector Space Model over the Cayley-Klein Hyperbolic Geometry (referred to as Hyperbolic Information Retrieval = HIR) using a similarity measure derived from the hyperbolic distance. It is shown that the proposed model is equivalent with the classical Vector Space Model using Cosine measure with normalized weighting scheme. It is also shown that the categoricity of the new retrieval system can be varied by only modifying the radius of the hyperbolic space and without using a different weighting scheme and similarity measure, which is not the case in the VSM, where the same effect can only be obtained by both changing the weighting scheme and similarity measure at the expense of a more costly computation. Experiments are also reported to demonstrate and support the ideas, and they show that categoricity in HIR can be varied more than O(n) faster, where n is the number of index terms, than in the VSM. 相似文献
