Incentives Leading Industry into Cooperation with Education

The success of an industrial enterprise is largely determined by the quality of its technical and management personnel and its long-range research program. Industry depends upon education to supply creative people and new ideas. Education depends upon the community to which industry is perhaps the most important element, to voice its educational needs and to provide support. The personnel and equipment of industrial laboratories can be used both in the company and in the schools to stimulate teachers and students and to acquaint them with the content and requirements of modern industrial technology. Financial aid from industry can support new educational projects pending budgetary acceptance.     

Anthropometric fractionation of body mass: Matiegka revisited

In a group of 699 Belgian nursing professionals, we estimated body composition using the four-component anthropometric model, relying on the equations originally formulated by Matiegka in 1921 and later revised by Drinkwater and colleagues. We estimated muscle mass using the more recent formula proposed by Martin and co-workers. A discrepancy was noted between estimated total body mass and 'assessed' mass, suggesting erroneous estimations of the components.

在分别对数字图书馆的集中模式、分布模式和复合模式进行分析研究的基础上，指出新的数字图书馆的基础结构(in-frastructure)及相应的服务模式需要在集中本地资源、服务的同时，吸收全国乃至全球范围内可获得的相应资源，故在上述方面占有优势的复合模式将成为数字图书馆可持续发展的未来模式。     

MedBiquitous and journal publishers: scholarly content and online medical communities

MedBiquitous is a consortium whose members are working to develop a common technology framework that will support reforms in healthcare education and competence assessment. The mission of MedBiquitous is to advance healthcare education through technology standards that promote professional competence, collaboration, and better patient care. The consortium members include professional medical associations, technology companies, e‐learning firms, and publishers, among others. Two publishers actively working within MedBiquitous are John Wiley & Sons, Inc., and the American Academy of Pediatrics, who are pursuing their own objectives to help to create improved online medical communities.
