The serial position effect in Long-Evans rats was evaluated in two experiments. In Experiment 1, the effect in a group for
which an interstimulus interval (ISI) was introduced between items in a list of demonstrators was compared with that in a
group without an ISI. With an ISI, a recency effect was produced. In Experiment 2, a serial position effect group was compared
with four groups in which either the distinctiveness or the context of the middle item was changed, relative to the items
on either side of it. A von Restorff effect was produced when a rat from a different strain was used as a demonstrator in
Position 2. The results for Experiment 1 are discussed in relation to interstimulus effects in monkeys and those for Experiment

Compound noun segmentation is a key first step in language processing for Korean. Thus far, most approaches require some form of human supervision, such as pre-existing dictionaries, segmented compound nouns, or heuristic rules. As a result, they suffer from the unknown word problem, which can be overcome by unsupervised approaches. However, previous unsupervised methods normally do not consider all possible segmentation candidates, and/or rely on character-based segmentation clues such as bi-grams or all-length n-grams. So, they are prone to falling into a local solution. To overcome the problem, this paper proposes an unsupervised segmentation algorithm that searches the most likely segmentation result from all possible segmentation candidates using a word-based segmentation context. As word-based segmentation clues, a dictionary is automatically generated from a corpus. Experiments using three test collections show that our segmentation algorithm is successfully applied to Korean information retrieval, improving a dictionary-based longest-matching algorithm.

Along with the advent of Web 2.0, mass collaboration is of paramount importance in knowledge exploration and diffusion. However, the extent to which Internet-based collaboration technologies can be used to develop new knowledge and to leverage the wisdom of crowds heavily depends on the collective willingness to adopt such tools together. In this study, the adoption and use of instant messaging has been conceptualized as a group-referent intentional social action. The concept of ‘we-intention’, which refers to one's perception of the group acting as a unit, is the focus of our interest. The cognitive, affective and social dimensions that contribute to ‘we-intention’ to adopt and use instant messaging were investigated. A survey was conducted and the findings provided empirical evidence supporting the idea that cognitive, affective and social factors jointly lead to the development of we-intention. Retailers’ websites are an important interface between retailers and their customers. The various features and elements that retailers include on their websites play a critical role in attracting customers and ensuring their satisfaction with the online shopping process. By conducting a three-phased study, we identify how the elements of a website shape customers’ salient beliefs. These salient beliefs, in turn, determine the level of customers’ satisfaction with the website. This study provides both theoretical insights into the beliefs of online shoppers and practical insights for retail website operators. Specifically, we argue that when retail websites are constructed to include several specific elements that appeal to the key salient beliefs of information quality, service quality, and system quality, retailers will increase customers’ satisfaction with the online shopping process. 相似文献

This article reports research from a 3 year digital learning project to unite conceptual change and scientific reasoning in
the learning unit of combustion. One group of students had completed the course combining conceptual change and scientific
reasoning. The other group of students received conventional instruction. In addition to the quantitative data, six students
from each group were interviewed to evaluate their conceptual change, correct concepts and scientific reasoning. Results indicate
that the experimental group’s students significantly outperformed the conventional group on the Combustion Achievement Test
(CAT), Scientific Reasoning Test (SRT) and Combustion Dependent Reasoning Test (CDRT). Moreover, the experimental group’s
students use higher levels of scientific reasoning more frequently and changed their alternative concepts more successfully
than did the conventional group. Furthermore, once the experimental group’s students’ successfully changed their conceptions,
their concepts tended to be more stable than the conventional group’s students, even after the 6th week of learning. These
results demonstrate that combining conceptual change and scientific reasoning indeed improves students’ conceptual change
and scientific reasoning ability more effectively than conventional instruction. 相似文献

This article addresses mathematics education in one of the most closed countries in the world, North Korea. It is known that ideology permeates all aspects of life in North Korea, but how exactly do the ideological and substantive mathematical components interact in mathematics education there? What concrete form does this interaction take in actual everyday teaching practice? This article seeks to answer these questions based on interviews with former North Korean mathematics teachers and students who have found a refuge in South Korea. With their help, we attempt to analyze the everyday life of North Korean schools, by reconstructing their concrete features and the routines of North Korean mathematics education. 相似文献
