Media Education‐‐a call for a change in teaching

The ever growing importance of mass media in social life makes media education one of the most challenging tasks for modern schools. While educators generally agree on the topics for this new area of study, the implications of media studies for teaching have long been overlooked. We should not teach about media as we teach about any other subject; media education calls for a change in the classroom. This article describes some of the consequences of media studies for classroom communication and points out the new opportunities for meaningful teaching.     

Engineering Student Exchange Programmes—France,Germany and Spain with Britain

The paper describes the development and operation of joint study programme schemes, which lead to double awards. The essential prerequisites for an exchange programme are identified together with an evaluation of academic standards and teaching methods in each country. The process of obtaining equivalence and credit recognition between courses is presented, together with specific data relating to requirements for double awards. The experience gained in these exchange programmes is discussed and student performance is evaluated.
