Stan Z. Li： Rolling face recognition

Among the galaxy of research and development organizations in northwest Beijing＇s Zhongguancun district, known as China＇s Silicon Valley, two are especially well-known to IT researchers： Microsoft Research Asia （MSRA）, and, within a few blocks on the other side of the street, the CAS Institute of Automation （CASIA）. KIB to cooperate with TLL on energy crops

An agreement on energy plant research and development was sealed between the CAS Kunming Institute of Botany （KIB） and Singaporean Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory （TLL） on 8 December, 2007 in Kunming, capital of southwest China＇s Yunnan Province. The document was signed by KIB Vice Director YANG Yongping and TLL Chief Operating Officer Tan Kok Keng.     

XU Tao: New director of the CAS Institute of Biophysics

CAS has named Prof. XU Tao as new director of its Institute of Biophysics (IOB). The announcement was made at an IOB conference on 5 April. Xu is to succeed Prof. RAO Zihe, who has been appointed president of the Nankai University.

Institute of Microbiology moves to new premises

The CAS Institute of Microbiology, which is originally located in northeast Beijing's Zhongguancun, a suburb northwest to the downtown, has recently moved to its new buildings in the northern suburbs of Beijing, where most of the CAS institutes in life sciences and geosciences in Beijing area herd together.
