日本小学生的“食育”

不久前去参加女儿上学的“学园祭”,其中五年级的孩子们所做的年糕饼特别令我惊讶和感动：那一次的“学园祭”,五年级的孩子在老师的带领下一共做了1000多份年糕饼招待来参加学园祭的家长以及同学们。所有做年糕所使用的糯米,全是今年春天五年级同学在老师的带领下自己播种、栽培和收割的。

A symposium marking the first anniversary of the CAS-MPG Partner Institute for Computational Biology(PICB), the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences(SIBS), was held on 27 October, 2006 in Shanghai. A New finding pushes back the history of flying mammals by 70 million years

Teaming up with their US coworkers, CAS paleontologists have discovered, in Ningcheng of northern China's Inner Mongolia, the nearly complete fossil remains of a mammal that glided among the trees at least 125 million years ago. Before the finding, the earliest confirmed record of gliding flight of a mammal dates to about 51million years ago.

China''''s biggest zoological museum opens in Kunming

The opening ceremony for the Kunming Museum of Zoology was held at the CAS Kunming Institute of Zoology (KIZ) on 31 October, 2006 in the capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province. With nearly10,000 animal specimens that could be put on display,the museum boasts the largest of its kind in China. The Museum opened to the public on 6 November.

CAS scores progress in MIS development

A CAS initiative to upgrade its management information system (MIS) is making landmark progress. The first-phase development of the Academia Resource Planning (ARP), a major MIS project at the Academy, passed the acceptance check by a 17-strong panel of experts on 23 January 2007 in Beijing.

A plant's ribosome-inactivating proteins (RIPs) are a group of toxic proteins. Theoretically, they can be employed as a tool enzyme in the exploration of the structure and function of the ribosomal RNA; in practical application, they can be used as an insecticide in agriculture, for preparation of immuno-toxic protein to kill cancer cells or against viral infection in medicine.
