This paper focuses on the attempt to include a historical perspective in a pre-service teacher education course. It is based
on the design research approach and the main aim is the development of a product, a module for student–teachers’ actual involvement
in the historic teaching design process. Student–teachers were presented and familiarized with the reasons for including a
historical component in teaching, and with the meaning and teaching function of three historical examples. They were asked
to search for historical materials on the basis of which they had to design teaching interventions justifying their choices.
Total of 74 teaching interventions have been analyzed and a systemic network has been produced with the identified categories
of their characteristics. Two case studies of students’ interventions with their historical materials are also discussed.
Findings show that the group of student–teachers studied was able to develop a range of interesting materials. Traditional
models of teaching that are held by student–teachers are obstacles for substantiating the historical perspective. Only a few
student–teachers succeed in stating meaningful epistemic goals, while some others lack awareness of the potential of their
own material for communicating aspects of the nature of science to students. Results appear that can lead to a future module’s
revision, and further research steps. 相似文献

In this paper, I describe the strong and reciprocal relations between the emergence of the specialized expert in the natural sciences and the establishment of science education, in early Modern Greece. Accordingly, I show how science and public education interacted within the Greek state from its inception in the early 1830, to the first decade of the twentieth century, when the University of Athens established an autonomous Mathematics and Physics School. Several factors are taken into account, such as the negotiations of Western educational theories and practices within a local context, the discourses of the science savants of the University of Athens, the role of the influential Greek pedagogues of the era, the state as an agent which imposed restrictions or facilitated certain developments and finally the intellectual and cultural aspirations of the nation itself. Science education is shown to be of fundamental importance for Greek scientists. The inclusion of science within the school system preceded and promoted the appearance of a scientific community and the institution of science courses was instrumental for the emergence of the first trained Greek scientists. Thus, the conventional narrative that would have science appearing in the classrooms as an aftermath of the emergence of a scientific community is problematized. 相似文献

An experiment using real hardware and under real test conditions can be remotely conducted by engineering students and other interested individuals in the world via the Internet and with the capability of live video streaming from the test site. The presentation of this innovative experiment refers to the determination of the current voltage characteristic curve of a photovoltaic panel installed on the roof of a laboratory, facing south and with the ability to alter its tilt angle, using a closed loop servo motor mounted on the horizontal axis of the panel. The user has the sense of a direct contact with the system since they can intervene and alter the tilt of the panel and get a live visual feedback besides the remote instrumentation panel. The whole procedure takes a few seconds to complete and the characteristic curve is displayed in a chart giving the student and anyone else interested the chance to analyse the results and understand the respective theory; meanwhile, the test data are stored in a file for future use. This type of remote experiment could be used for distance education, training, part-time study and to help students with disabilities to participate in a laboratory environment. 相似文献

This study examines how focusing on the notion of ‘poeticality’ (poetical forms) can provide functional insights with respect to the narrativeness of physics teaching. From this perspective, through both a meaning-making and aesthetic approach, this article explores how vehicles such as verse and rhetorical figures—metaphor, irony, litotes, hyperbole, antithesis and paradox—can create written and oral texts for the teaching of physics, using a language with poetic significance. This standpoint exists in parallel with an increasingly acknowledged fact in the field of science education, i.e., that the context and particularly the modes of representation potentially affect students’ comprehension. In this way, science education is allowed to escape the dominance of the cognitive paradigm and to concentrate on the study of students’ conceptualisations in relation to the modalities used to shape meanings. 相似文献

Post-medieval Greek painting manuals, exemplified by the Hermeneia of the Art of Painting by Dionysius of Fourna, were often copied, enriched, and widely used in icon-painter workshops until the twentieth century. These manuals reflect the accumulated experience of many generations of painters and include sections that pertain to preparation and application of materials and handling of works. Here we present, discuss, and, in some cases, compare with pertinent western instructions and experimental findings (deriving from the analysis of icons and wall paintings), key Greek manual instructions for sound practice, and practical conservation of paintings. Instructions in consideration come from both the published version of Hermeneia and various unpublished manuals; it is shown that the first part of the widely circulating standard edition of Dionysius is by no means an exhaustive account of post-Byzantine technical knowledge. 相似文献

The purpose of this paper was to explore the degree of children's access to home computers. From this perspective research was carried out into the following: the initiative to purchase a home computer; the child's familiarisation with a computer at home; the child's computer activities. The research was based on a random sample of 993 children, of whom 305 had a home computer. The children learned about the computer through their older siblings or parents. The computer at home was used by children mainly for games but also in combination with other applications. The results of the research raise questions about the connection between the different use of the computer at home and at school. 相似文献

Various aspects of computational thinking (CT) could be supported by educational contexts such as simulations and video-games construction. In this field study, potential differences in student motivation and learning were empirically examined through students’ code. For this purpose, we performed a teaching intervention that took place over five weeks, with two-hour sessions per week, plus two more weeks for the pretest and post-test projects. Students were taught programming concepts through a science project; one group represented the function of a basic electric circuit by creating a simulation, while the other group represented the same function by creating a video game in which a player should achieve a score in order to win. Video game construction resulted in projects with higher CT skills and more primitives, as measured through projects’ code analysis. Moreover, the video-game context seems to better motivate students for future engagement with computing activities. 相似文献

In this paper, we look closely at two events selected through event-oriented inquiry that were part of a classroom presentation on race. The first event was a provocative discussion about Mark Twain’s (Pudd’nhead Wilson, Harper, New York, 1899) and passing for being White. The other was a discussion on the use of the N-word. Grounded in authentic inquiry, we use ethnographic narrative, cogenerative dialogues, and video and oximeter data analyses as part of a multi-ontological approach for studying emotions. Statistical analysis of oximeter data shows statistically significant heart rate synchrony among two of the coteachers during their presentations, providing evidence of emotional synchrony, resonance, and social and emotional contagion. 相似文献
