Examining the Rule of Thumb of Not Using Multilevel Modeling: The “Design Effect Smaller Than Two” Rule

Educational researchers commonly use the rule of thumb of “design effect smaller than 2” as the justification of not accounting for the multilevel or clustered structure in their data. The rule, however, has not yet been systematically studied in previous research. In the present study, we generated data from three different models (which differ in the location of the clustering effect). With a 3 (design effect) × 5 (cluster size) × 4 (number of clusters) Monte Carlo simulation study we found that the rule should not be applied when researchers: (a) are interested in the effects of higher-level predictors, or (b) have a cluster size less than 10. Implications of the findings and limitations of the study are discussed.

Disambiguation and co-authorship networks of the U.S. patent inventor database (1975–2010)

Research into invention, innovation policy, and technology strategy can greatly benefit from an accurate understanding of inventor careers. The United States Patent and Trademark Office does not provide unique inventor identifiers, however, making large-scale studies challenging. Many scholars of innovation have implemented ad-hoc disambiguation methods based on string similarity thresholds and string comparison matching; such methods have been shown to be vulnerable to a number of problems that can adversely affect research results. The authors address this issue contributing (1) an application of the Author-ity disambiguation approach (0170 and 0175) to the US utility patent database, (2) a new iterative blocking scheme that expands the match space of this algorithm while maintaining scalability, (3) a public posting of the algorithm and code, and (4) a public posting of the results of the algorithm in the form of a database of inventors and their associated patents. The paper provides an overview of the disambiguation method, assesses its accuracy, and calculates network measures based on co-authorship and collaboration variables. It illustrates the potential for large-scale innovation studies across time and space with visualizations of inventor mobility across the United States. 基于项目驱动的DACUM模型Java课程开发建设研究

Java语言是目前流行的一种网络编程语言,但是涉及的知识点多,入门难,高职学生基础较薄弱,学习主动性不太高,容易遇难而退。针对这一问题本文说明了项目驱动教学的重要性,根据DA-CUM模型分析介绍了项目驱动的java课程教学模式,从课程设计、课程群建设、考核方式改革、教学资源建设等方面讨论了项目驱动的DACUM模型Java课程建设应解决的相关问题,给出了贯穿式项目教学的教学设计方案,基于DACUM模型分析设置了java课程群建设相关的java、java高级编程、jsp等系列课程,具体分析并提出了项目驱动的DACUM模型《JAVA编程基础》考核方案。通过实践表明,本文所提出的基于项目驱动的DACUM高职java课程开发与建设,能够有效的加强高职院校对于java课程的教学,具有很强的拓展性,适用性很好。     

特殊行业中人员高危行为视觉监控系统仿真

在一些高危的特殊行业中,操作人员的行为是否规范,一直是行业监督的重点。传统的监控方法以人工监控为主,无法做到高效与及时,为此提出一种特殊行业中操作人员高危行为视觉监控系统方案。利用员工操作区域固定场景采集操作人员行为图像,通过图像预处理、人体姿态定位与标准模式阀值识别等相关技术手段设计实现了一套特殊行业中操作人员高危行为视觉监控模型。在识别过程中通过利用手部姿态、相关货物飞行的位置关系与手臂连线的灰度直方图构建特征向量,完成判断。以物流行业为例,仿真实验表明,该方法取得了较好的识别效果,可以对物流分拣过程的标准化过程进行有效的监控。     

Tandem array of nanoelectronic readers embedded coplanar to a fluidic nanochannel for correlated single biopolymer analysis

We have developed a two-step electron-beam lithography process to fabricate a tandem array of three pairs of tip-like gold nanoelectronic detectors with electrode gap size as small as 9 nm, embedded in a coplanar fashion to 60 nm deep, 100 nm wide, and up to 150 μm long nanochannels coupled to a world-micro-nanofluidic interface for easy sample introduction. Experimental tests with a sealed device using DNA-protein complexes demonstrate the coplanarity of the nanoelectrodes to the nanochannel surface. Further, this device could improve transverse current detection by correlated time-of-flight measurements of translocating samples, and serve as an autocalibrated velocimeter and nanoscale tandem Coulter counters for single molecule analysis of heterogeneous samples.     

基于PMC-AE指数模型的我国体教融合政策量化评价

运用PMC-AE复合政策评价方法,构建包含9个一级变量、31个二级变量的体教融合政策量化PMC-AE指数模型,对"十三五"时期体教融合政策成效实施量化评估。结果表明:(1)体教融合政策分为3个等级,等级跨度取值0.5,Ⅰ级政策样本1项,Ⅱ级政策样本5项,Ⅲ级政策样本2项。(2)体教融合政策兼备"自上而下"与"自下而上"的双重属性,不同级别体教融合政策差距甚微,国家级、省级、市级"上下结合、首尾呼应"。(3)体教融合政策得分不高的原因主要是受政策性质、受领对象、政策激励以及政策评价4项指标影响。(4)体教融合政策内涵,不拘泥于竞技体育后备人才培养,延伸至促进青少年健康发展;不止步于竞技体育发展,转向学校体育发展。研究认为,在此基础上"十四五"时期体教融合政策制定要增加预测性内容,趋向多元化受领对象,具体化激励措施,以及推进动态性评估。     

“校企合作”背景下的聋生高职实训基地建设探讨--以浙江省聋生装饰设计专业为例

实训基地建设是高职实践教学的重要场所,也是实现高职教育目标的必要条件。本文列出了浙江省聋生装饰艺术设计专业实训基地建设过程中存在的一些问题,结合具体的实践探索提出了一些建议以供探讨。
