For many cases, target localization accuracy can significantly improve by accounting for the propagation delay between the target source and the sensors. This paper considers when it is advantageous to compensate for the propagation delay for the case of a network of nodes where each node consists of an array of sensors. Each node calculates a direction of arrival (DOA) from the raw data, and these DOAs are combined to localize the target. First, we consider the case when no prior data are given and the localization occurs using DOA measurements from a single snapshot. Such localization methods are necessary to initiate a target track. Finally, we investigate the case where an extended Kalman filter is used to aggregate measurements over multiple snapshots. 相似文献

to examine the extent to which CACREP-accredited master’s-level programs attend to the representation of people of color,

data. The findings indicated little consistency in the maintenance of students’ demographic characteristics among participating

Teacher's work and workload have been major factors in the recruitment, retention and revitalization of the profession. In January 2003 the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) launched a major reform known as remodelling, by which the work–life balance would be improved by freeing teachers up to teach, and using other members of the workforce (teaching and learning support assistants, administrators and bursars, technicians and welfare and counselling staff) to take on work that teachers need no longer do. This reform is in progress, and while there is anecdotal evidence of both the benefits and concerns of remodelling, there is no formal research evidence. However, prior to this initiative the DfES trialled these changes in 32 pilot schools, and a team from the University of Birmingham evaluated it. In this paper we examine this data with regard to the possibilities and opportunities afforded by remodelling and we consider how the pilot data generates important questions and illuminates contradictions in the modernization project. 相似文献

Although girls disclose to friends about problems more than boys, little is known about processes underlying this sex difference. Four studies (Ns = 526, 567, 769, 154) tested whether middle childhood to mid-adolescent girls and boys (ranging from 8 to 17 years old) differ in how they expect that talking about problems would make them feel. Girls endorsed positive expectations (e.g., expecting to feel cared for, understood) more strongly than boys. Despite common perceptions, boys did not endorse negative expectations such as feeling embarrassed or worried about being made fun of more than girls. Instead, boys were more likely than girls to expect to feel "weird" and like they were wasting time. Sex differences in outcome expectations did help to account for girls' greater disclosure to friends. 相似文献

Much research has been published on cellular phone only households and the challenges posed by cellular phones to traditional survey methodologies that attempt to generate representative samples using only landline telecommunications. This study reports analyses comparing two separate survey strata (N landline = 152, N cellular = 153) collected simultaneously and nested within a single-frame survey of a state in the American Midwest for differences in demographics, political orientations, individual differences, and a variety of political media consumption variables.
