During the development of radio-telegraphy and radio-telephony there have appeared many devices, including various forms of discharge gaps and arcs, for the production of high-frequency oscillations. The following contribution presents yet another method, which was discovered by the author, for the production of oscillatory currents of high frequency; an arrangement which at first sight may appear to differ but slightly from some hitherto known systems, but which, on closer study, will be seen to be new in electrical action. Besides being new, this system possesses some interesting characteristics and some advantages over the other systems, which render it useful. Partly owing to the status of podcasting as a buzzword and subject of much recent media attention, educational technology researchers and practitioners have been using the term very loosely. Few studies have examined student perceptions and uptake of “podcasting” in the true sense of the word, whereby a syndication protocol such as Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is used to allow students to subscribe to podcast feeds or channels, facilitating the automatic download of new content as it becomes available. The small number of studies that have covered this aspect of podcasting suggest that students generally do not tend to make use of this functionality, but instead prefer to simply download the media files manually. By drawing on research into the usage of RSS and podcasting both inside and outside the field of education, as well as extant literature on university students' usage patterns and behaviors with respect to information and communications technologies (ICTs) and the Internet, the authors postulate a number of possible reasons why podcasting syndication services have not experienced substantial levels of uptake among students to date. They argue that it is premature to dismiss RSS as a distribution mechanism for digital audio content in teaching and learning, and describe a number of examples of educational applications that could potentially make the use of such services worthwhile and valuable to both teachers and students. The article considers the relevance of recent developments in postcolonial theory for comparative education research. The article starts with an account of these developments. This account is then used as a basis for a critical discussion of previous theoretical frameworks that have been used by comparative researchers to explain the colonial legacy. The implications of adopting a postcolonial approach in comparative education are discussed in relation to issues of race, culture, language and the curriculum. The article concludes by arguing that a consideration of the postcolonial condition is necessary for developing a more holistic and less eurocentric understanding of the relationship between globalisation and education. 相似文献

Gray and Lethbridge (1976) have reported a demonstration of configural conditioning in the CER in rats. With repeated reinforcement of a compound CS, suppression to the elements diminished considerably, while suppression to the compound remained substantially intact. The basic form of the Gray and Lethbridge findings has been replicated in the present study. We observed, however, that suppression to the compound itself diminished with repeated reinforcement of the compound. Further, we also tested the compound after deliberate extinction of the elements. This test of the excitatory effect of the “configurai cue” indicated that it also had diminished with repeated reinforcement of the compound. The observed greater suppression to the compound than to the elements can be parsimoniously interpreted as a simple summation effect, and the attenuation of suppression with repeated reinforcement is common in CER studies.
