In 1981, sign language was declared an official language in communication with and education of deaf children in Sweden. Today, the debate is focused on language communication for hard of hearing children. In order to describe patterns of interaction between hard of hearing and deaf children as well as between hard of hearing children, a longitudinal, qualitative study was conducted. Twenty-seven children, 2 and 7 years of age, participated. Fifteen were deaf, twelve hard of hearing. Video-recorded observations were made at three daycare centres during a two year period. Observations were made in natural interactional settings. The results showed that the use of a language code that was easy for the children to produce as well as to perceive enabled them not only to take part in dialogues and to share experiences with others, but also had positive consequences for their play as well as their social and emotional development. A child-centered and supportive communicative style of the adults, in combination with a positive attitude towards fantasy and role plays seemed to promote the children’s overall development, as contrasted to an adult-centered and directive communicative style where language per se was in focus. 相似文献

We explored the etiology of individual differences in reading development from post-kindergarten to post–4th grade by analyzing data from 487 twin pairs tested in Colorado. Data from three reading measures and one spelling measure were fit to biometric latent growth curve models, allowing us to extend previous behavioral genetic studies of the etiology of early reading development at specific time points. We found primarily genetic influences on individual differences at post–1st grade for all measures. Genetic influences on variance in growth rates were also found, with evidence of small, nonsignificant, shared environmental influences for two measures. We discuss our results, including their implications for educational policy. 相似文献

An increase in salivary leukocytes may contribute to the exercise-induced increase in salivary antimicrobial proteins (AMPs). However, exercise-induced changes in salivary leukocytes have not been studied. The purpose of the study was to describe salivary leukocyte changes with exercise. Participants (n = 11, 20.3 ± 0.8 years, 57.2 ± 7.6 ml kg?1 min?1 peak oxygen uptake ((VO) ?2peak), 11.1 ± 3.9% body fat) ran for 45 min at 75% of VO2peak. Stimulated saliva (12 mL) was collected pre- and immediately post exercise. Saliva was filtered through a 30 µm filter before analysis of leukocytes (CD45+), granulocytes (CD45+CD15+), monocytes (CD45+CD14+), T-cells (CD45+CD3+), and B-cells (CD45+CD20+) using flow cytometry. Saliva was analysed for Lysozyme (Lys) using ELISA. Exercise did not alter any leukocyte subset. The major constituent of leukocytes pre-exercise were granulocytes (57.9 ± 30.3% compared with monocytes: 5.1 ± 2.7%, T-cells: 17.1 ± 8.9%, B-cells: 12.1 ± 10.2%) (P < 0.05). In a subset of n = 6, Lys secretion rate increased after exercise (pre: 5,170 ± 5,215 ng/min; post: 7,639 ± 4,140 ng/min) (P < 0.05). Exercise does not result in increased granulocytes, but does increase Lys. Further, these data suggest that an increase in salivary leukocytes is not needed to increase Lys. 相似文献
