Recently, there has been a transition from traditional paper or computer-based learning environments to smartpad-based learning environments, which are based on touch and involve various cognitive strategies such as touch operation and note taking. Accordingly, the use of smartpads can provide an effective learning environment through cross-modality, which simultaneously integrates information using two or more sensory modalities. Based on this rationale, this study investigated the effects of cross-modality (vision and tactility) on knowledge acquisition in a smartpad-based learning environment. Interaction between different modalities and learners’ self-regulated learning (SRL) skills was also tested. Ninety-nine college students were randomly assigned to three different learning environments: paper-based, smartpad-based unimodal, and smartpad-based cross-modal environments. Students were differentiated according to high and low SRL skill levels. The findings suggest that the participants in the smartpad-based cross-modal environment significantly outperformed the participants in the smartpad-based unimodal environment pertinent to identification and comprehension knowledge acquisition. Furthermore, the participants in the smartpad-based cross-modal environment performed equally with the participants in the paper-based environment. 相似文献

In this study, 74 master’s-level counseling students from various programs completed a questionnaire inquiring about their perceived program environment in relation to the topics of spirituality and religion (S/R), program emphasis on nine specific S/R competencies, as well as their outcome expectations toward being S/R competent through training. The results of hierarchical regression analysis supported the impact of both learning environment and specific S/R competencies on student outcome expectations. Taekwondo's cultural identity is considered in the light of the controversy over its historical origins. After reviewing several existing theories, the meaning and development of taekwondo as a Korean martial art is explored. There are two conclusions: first, taekwondo is a fusion of several different sources; second, taekwondo is essentially a martial art that focuses on foot skills, and this distinguishes it from Japan's karate and China's wushu, which are primarily based on hand skills. The fact that all terms are rendered into pure Korean words shows the essence of Korean localization. Thus taekwondo incorporates a distinct identity as a Korean martial art. 相似文献

Comprehension of science topics occurs when learners meaningfully generate relationships and conceptions about what they read.
In this generation process, learners’ cognitive and metacognitive regulation is one of the most critical factors influencing
learning. However, learners are not always successful in regulating their own learning, especially in computer-based learning
environments (CBLEs) where they are alone. Based on this rationale, the present study was designed to examine the effects
of two scaffolding strategies—generative learning strategy prompts and metacognitive feedback—on learners’ comprehension and
self-regulation while learning the human heart system in a CBLE. Participants were 223 undergraduate student volunteers. Structural
Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed to conceptualize and empirically test a model that explains mediating processes among
variables. Results revealed that the combination of generative learning strategy prompts with metacognitive feedback improved
learners’ recall and comprehension by enhancing learners’ self-regulation and better use of highlighting and summarizing as

Critical thinking is an essential competency in the new information age. But research shows that students commonly lack critical
thinking skills and hence promoting students’ critical thinking becomes crucial. This exploratory study investigated the extent
to which secondary school students’ critical thinking could be promoted by writing reflections in the weblog. Students’ critical
thinking was measured by using the Newman’s model. Results showed that writing reflections in the weblog could help promote
students’ critical thinking and according to the Newman’s model, three categories of critical thinking were promoted the most,
they were bringing outside knowledge or experience (O+), relevance (R+), and justification (J+). In addition, the study also
found that the types of interaction with peers and the teacher had a more positive effect on the extent of critical thinking.

This study analyzes the Triple Helix (TH) structure of an online national food cluster. Although the university–industry–government (UIG) approach provides useful insights into innovation and its diffusion, few studies have examined how such systems are organized and operate in cyberspace. Foodpolis is an export-oriented national food cluster targeting markets in Northeast Asia, including China and Japan. Foodpolis encompasses national food industry complexes and government-led agricultural and food R&D institutes whose goal is to advance food-processing technologies. This study employs the webometric analysis method to reveal the communication pattern of interactions between participating actors. The study evaluates web mentions and hyperlink networks to investigate links to and from the website of Foodpolis (Foodpolis.kr) by using the NodeXL software package. The results for links to and from Foodpolis do not indicate sufficient interactions between UIG websites and Twitter accounts. Instead, the website and Twitter account of Foodpolis were linked to its own online café, websites of individuals, and government websites. The results suggest that UIG actors should employ online communication channels in a more proactive manner for diffusing innovative initiatives such as Foodpolis. 相似文献

In this paper, the author investigates what kind of challenges contemporary pedagogy has confronted, focusing on the question of knowability of radical otherness of the educated and the makability of the human being through education. Starting from two different narratives reflecting on their personal educational relationships and their identity as an educator, the author sketches the contrasting development in the history of pedagogy from Comenius via Kant and Buber and expands on the pedagogical reception of the philosophy of the Other by Lévinas. Differing from the ego- and subject-centeredness of modern pedagogy, Lévinas proposes a rather humble concept of a subject who is always and already responsive to and responsible for the Other. Based on this contrast, the author suggests that modern educators can be freed from an all-knowing and almighty complex and get to a more sympathetic, sensitive, and ethical dimension for their pedagogical practice. 相似文献

This paper examines the structural patterns of networks of internationally co-authored SCI papers in the domain of research driven by big data and provides an empirical analysis of semantic patterns of paper titles. The results based on data collected from the DVD version of the 2011 SCI database identify the U.S. as the most central country, followed by the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Australia, the Netherlands, Canada, and Spain, in that order. However, some countries (e.g., Portugal) with low degree centrality occupied relatively central positions in terms of betweenness centrality. The results of the semantic network analysis suggest that internationally co-authored papers tend to focus on primary technologies, particularly in terms of programming and related database issues. The results show that a combination of words and locations can provide a richer representation of an emerging field of science than the sum of the two separate representations. 相似文献
