175 Years of linear programming

The theory of flows in networks began to evolve in the early 1950’s.The various linear optimisation questions that could be asked of flows in conserving networks turned out to be neat combinatorial specialisations of linear programming. The simplex method (and its variants) turned out to have very pretty combinatorial interpretations on networks. The algebraic dexterity of linear programming duality led to a unified treatment of many deep theorems in graph theory and combinatorics. In this part, the last of the series on linear programming, we will see glimpses of the theory of network flows through a specific flow optimisation problem — the maximum flow problem.     

Maple syrup urine disease: An uncommon cause for neonatal metabolic distress

Maple Syrup Urine Disease is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by a deficiency in the activity of the branched-chain α-ketoacid dehydrogenase complex. This rare disorder represents one of the causes of acute neonatal illness which results in devastating disturbances of neurological development. On investigation of 1750 infants with neurological impairment for inborn errors of amino acid metabolism, 4 neonates with classical maple syrup urine disease were detected. These otherwise normal neonates presented in the first week after birth with seizures, lethargy and refusal of feeds, hypoglycemia and metabolic acidosis. The plasma and urine concentrations of the branched-chain amino acids were increased and there was ketoaciduria. Two of these neonates expired before specific treatment could be instituted. Routine biochemical screening of neonates with acute illness could unearth many cases of this rare inherited metabolic disease.     

运动对肝脏的影响(综述)

本文综合阐述了运动对肝脏功能和形态结构的影响,运动对肝脏功能的影响主要表现在对肝脏中各种酶的功用的影响,同时肝细胞的形态结构也会因运动发生相应的变化,亦可致使肝功能发生异常甚至发生病变。     

改进的支持向量机在微博热点话题预测中的应用

为了提高微博舆情的预测精度,针对不同单一核函数的局限,用线性拟合确定两种核函数的权重提出改进的支持向量机模型。首先利用马尔科夫模型矩阵的稀疏程度提取影响因子指标,得到微博传播的增减趋势;然后用改进的支持向量机对实时数据按照4∶1的比例划分测试集和训练集,进行实时预测与警示。实验结果表明：应用马尔科夫模型进行微博舆情的主成分提取效果较佳,改进的支持向量机构造了新的组合核函数,比传统的预判效果更佳。     

协同神经网络立体图像识别方法

基于前人在协同神经网络的相关研究,本文提出了立体图像的原型向量的构造方法——立体像素平铺法和投影截面法,并给出了投影截面法的优化方法。

Underestimation of Impaired Kidney Function with Serum Creatinine

Serum creatinine (SCr) levels are frequently used as a screening test to assess impaired renal function; however, patients can have significantly decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR) with normal SCr values and making the recognition of kidney dysfunction more difficult. Hence, this study was designed to determine the extent of misclassification of the patients who have significantly reduced GFR as calculated by reexpressed four variable modification of diet in renal disease (MDRD) equation but, normal range of SCr. The study included 1040 in and out patients referred by physicians for serum creatinine measurement. When an exclusion criterion was applied 928 patients were qualified for the study. SCr was measured in 928 patients by a Roche kinetic compensated Jaffe’s assay. GFR was calculated using reexpressed four variable MDRD study equation. Of the 928 patients 270 (29.1%) had renal dysfunction on the basis of eGFR (<60 ml/min/1.73 m²). However, with SCr only 162 (17.5%) patients had abnormal renal function (>1.5 mg/dl) and SCr values misrepresented (108) 11.6% patients with impaired kidney function. In addition, more females, about 15% were failed to detect by SCr method in contrast to males of 9%. This study documented that, a large proportion of patients with impaired renal function are not diagnosed if clinicians rely solely on normal SCr as evidence of normal renal function. Inclusion of eGFR calculated by re-expressed 4 variable MDRD equation may facilitates the early identification and intervention of patients with renal impairment.

健美专项课教学对大学生身心群影响的实践研究

本文以广东嘉应学院健美选修班学生为研究对象,通过一年的健美专项课教学和训练,对授课前后学生身体形态、机能、素质、心理和社会适应能力等各项指标进行比较分析和研究。结果表明：健美专项课教学不仅能快速有效地改善大学生身体形态、机能和素质,而且对大学生的心理素质、社会适应能力、审美能力等诸多方面具有良好的促进作用。
