Solid acid catalysts in Green Chemistry

In the first part of this article, the principles of functioning of the solid acid catalysts, their nature and preparation of a few types were described. In this part, some practical examples of such catalysts employed in the synthesis of several organic compounds are presented, which illustrate the extent to which catalysts help reduce pollution, cut costs of production, etc., that are important principles of Green Chemistry. Making sense of boiling points and melting points

The boiling and melting points of a pure substance are characteristic physical constants of that substance in its pure state. Although it is not possible to predict these physical constants for a given substance, it is, however, possible to rationalize these values on a relative basis for given substances, taking into account the type of chemical bonding, the intermolecular forces and other factors. Fun with balls and coins

Even elementary probability has a lot of interesting things to offer to the students to get excited and think about. Unfortunately our curricula are generally designed in such a way that interesting things are carefully left out. Even if the material is touched upon briefly, the discussion is reduced to simple calculation of ratios devoid of any meaning. In this article we discuss two interesting models in probability. We just throw balls into boxes as dictated by tossing coins, nothing more than that.

采用数理统计等方法对伦敦奥运会女子跆拳道赛事的76场比赛录像进行统计分析。研究表明:世界优秀跆拳道运动员在比赛中主要采用4种技术动作,其中横踢仍然是核心技术和比赛得分的主要手段,其使用率占80%;运动员在能力均衡的情况下,正确的分配体能、合理运用技术就显得至关重要;跆拳道运动员防守意识有待提高。分析结果有利于了解国际赛事中跆拳道运动技战术发展趋势,使我国跆拳道有效性的训练更具有针对性。     

论诗歌翻译的可译性与不可译性

文章通过分析诗歌翻译的可译性与不可译性,探讨了诗歌可译与不可译的关系,指出在二者具有相对性的前提下,译者应不断丰富诗歌翻译的方法和策略,降低不可译性,更好地进行诗歌翻译。     

浅谈城市排水系统运行中存在的问题及改进措施
