Children's recall of medical experiences: the impact of stress

OBJECTIVE: The study compared children's reports of two medical events, to assess the effects of the type of event on children's recall. Additionally, the study examined the effect of props on children's event reports. METHOD: Twenty children between the ages of 37 and 67 months were interviewed following either a voiding cysto-urethrogram (VCUG) or a pediatric assessment (PA) at a hospital. Interviews were conducted between 6 and 8 days after the event and included a doll and prop items. RESULTS: Ratings of stress were significantly higher for children who underwent the VCUG than those who underwent the PA. Children who experienced the VCUG procedure reported more correct information than the children who experienced the PA. Age was correlated with the total amount of correct information reported. Stress levels were correlated with both errors and accuracy of information. CONCLUSIONS: Children who experienced a stressful medical procedure remembered more than children who experienced a neutral medical event, although this increase in amount recalled was at the expense of accuracy. These findings suggest that stress impacts negatively on recall: however, the unique and structured nature of the VCUG procedure compared to the PA, and the familiarity of the PA prop items to the children who experienced the VCUG procedure, may also have contributed to differences in recall of the two events.

大学生感觉寻求人格特质与网络成瘾

目的:调查大学生网络使用情况、感觉寻求特点及其与网络成癌的关系.方法:采用基本信息问卷、网络使用情况问卷、网络成瘾问卷、感觉寻求问卷对651名大学生进行调查.结果表明:(1)网络成瘾总分不具有性别、年龄、年级、专业、家庭类型、父母学历、网龄的差异性;(2)网络成瘾总分具有上网地点、生源、网络功能使用、网络使用目的的差异性;(3)网络成瘾总分与周上网时间、周上网次数、每次上网时间具有高相关;(4)网络成瘾总分与去抑制分量表得分与感觉寻求总分相关显著.结论:网络成瘾与网络使用情况、感觉寻求特点具有一定的关系.

吐鲁番市空气质量变化趋势分析及对策研究

为了解吐鲁番市环境空气质量变化趋势及引起质量变化的主要因素,收集了吐鲁番市2001—2009年空气质量监测数据并进行了分析,结果发现污染负荷系数由大到小排列为PM10^-2^-2,而且浓度随时间（年际）呈上升趋势。由此可知吐鲁番市空气质量正在下降。     

改革教育拨款制度 提高人才培养质量

现行高等教育财政拨款制度是影响我国高校人才培养质量的因素之一,拨款制度应该与学校办学水平、社会声誉等相结合,激励高校把人才培养质量作为工作中心。努力实现质量评估与财政拨款的有机结合,培育教育中介组织,将教育财政拨款与毕业生实际就业率适当挂钩以及建立社会监督和举报制度等,均是保证人才质量的外部力量。     

Social Interactions of Retarded Children: Generalization from Mainstream to Special School

Seven IH children attending a special school were integrated into a mainstream school on a part‐time basis over a period of 18 weeks. Effects were evaluated using behavioural measures of activity participation and social interactions during class time and free‐play periods in both the mainstream school and the special school which the children continued to attend. Compared to IH children who remained in the special school, the integrated children showed larger increases in Associative play in the special school free‐play period, but no differential change in classroom behaviour. In the mainstream school, social interactions between IH and non‐handicapped children occurred at high levels in both class and playground periods.

This forum presents Thailand's National Information Technology (IT) Plan and comments on the plan by three international experts: Seymour Goodman, Heinrich Reinermann, and G. Russell Pipe. The plan, which was prepared for Thailand's National IT Committee by the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center, is striking for its explicit consideration of social as well as economic goals in its specific objectives and implementation proposals. Agenda item 1 of the plan is to 'Invest in an Equitable Information Infrastructure: To Enhance Human Ability and Enhance Life Quality.' Implementation of the plan is proceeding well, although somewhat more slowly than anticipated, and support for the original goals and objectives remains strong.
