Stroke being the third leading cause of death and foremost cause of disability, if potential diagnostic utility of blood borne
protein biomarkers in predicting acute stroke is established, it would be a substantial adjunct to computerized tomography
and magnetic resonance imaging which have their own limitations. This study was done to correlate serum Interleukin 6, high
sensitivity C reactive protein at the time of admission with neurological worsening assessed by NIHSS at the time of admission
and 7 days after admission. 46 Patients admitted in neurology department SAIMS, Indore with first ever ischemic stroke within
72 h of onset were included in the study. All patients with history of stroke of more than 72 h onset, Infection & peripartum
stroke were excluded from the study. Disability scoring was done by NIHSS and their serum samples assayed for hsCRP, IL6 by
commercially available quantitative sandwich enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay kits. Serum samples of 50 control cases which
included healthy volunteers and staff from SAIMS were also analyzed for hsCRP, IL6 for comparative study. A significant correlation
was observed between NIHSS scoring and serum hsCRP and IL6 at the time of admission. Patients with initial high serum IL6
and hsCRP also showed significant clinical deterioration as assessed by NIHSS scoring 7 days after admission. Elevated hsCRP
and IL6 within 72 h of admission strongly correlated with functional disability in study population in India and may serve
as useful adjunct to CT Scan in emergency setting. 相似文献

Blood biochemistry has significant effect on pathophysiology of human body. Recently few studies found the association of biochemical abnormalities in sickle cell patients. Sickle cell disease showed clinical variability where African ancestors have severe phenotype than Indian sicklers. Our aim was to evaluate the biochemicals in sickle cell patients and their effect on severity. Here we present the comparative biochemical levels in sickle cell patients as well as controls. Sickle cell patients diagnosed by HPLC and biochemical analysis done by Beckman-auto analyzer. T test applied for statistical analysis. Result showed the renal abnormality lesser in patients and related biochemical within the normal range and statistically not significant. Electrolytes, hepatic enzymes, alkaline phosphatase and glucose were elevated and statistically significant (P value <0.05). Observation of the study concludes the biochemical abnormality play a significant role in sickle cell patient’s physiopathology and can be used to management of the disease. 相似文献

The glycosylated haemoglobin was measured in two different categories of diabetic subjects. In poorly controlled subjects
of group II, a significant alteration in serum proteins was observed. Total protein along with albumin concentrations were
decreased and α2 globulin fraction was increased. Insulin therapy resulted in normalisation of blood glucose and gradual decrease in glycosylated
haemoglobin in the therapy period of eight weeks. This also resulted in a rise of total protein and albumin concentrations
with a decrease in α2 fraction. The present study indicates that prolonged therapy of insulin is needed to correct the serum protein abnormalities

The hypolipidemic activity of Cassia tora (Chakvat, Chakunda) (Family: Caesalpiniaceae) seeds extract have been studied in two models of hyperlipidemia in rats. In an acute model, hyperlipidemia was induced by injecting a single dose of Triton WR-1339 (400 mg/kg, b.w.) intraperitonially in rats. Feeding with C. tora seed extract at the dose of 500 mg/kg, b.w. exerted significant lipid lowering effect as assessed by the reversal of plasma levels of total cholesterol, phospholipids, triglyceride and reactivation of post heparin lipolytic activity. In the chronic model, hyperlipidemia was induced by feeding with cholesterol rich-HFD in rats. The treatment with seeds extract of C. tora (500 mg/kg, b.w.) simultaneously for 15 days also caused lowering of lipid levels in plasma and liver following reactivation of plasma post heparin lipolytic activity and hepatic lipoprotein lipase activity in animals. The hypolipidemic activity of C. tora seeds was compared with a standard drug guggulipid (200 mg/kg, b.w.) in both models. 相似文献

WHO-Tropical Disease Research scheme highlighted the need for development of new anti-filarial drugs. Certain antibiotics
have recently been found effective against Wolbachia, co-existing symbiotically with filarial parasites. Inflammatory response
entails oxidative mechanism to educe direct anti-microbial effect. In the present study microfilariae were maintained in vitro
in medium supplemented with varying concentrations of tetracycline, doxycycline (20–100 μg/ml) or ciprofloxacin (50–250 μg/ml)
separately to find out any involvement of oxidative mechanism in the anti-filarial effect of these antibiotics. Loss of motility
of the microfilariae was measured after 48 h and correlated with the levels of MDA, nitric oxide and protein-carbonylation.
Significant loss of microfilarial motility was recorded with increasing concentration of tetracycline and doxycycline but
with ciprofloxacin the effect was not marked. Agents with high antifilarial activity revealed significant association with
oxidative parameters in a dose dependent manner. The result suggests that oxidative effect might be exploited to design novel
antifilarial drug candidate. 相似文献

“Supply Chain—Marketing Shark Tank” Experiential Lab Game in Interdisciplinary Business Education: Qualitative and Quantitative Analyses 下载免费PDF全文
This article provides educators in business schools with a new interdisciplinary experiential lab game called Supply Chain—Marketing (SC‐Mark) Shark Tank game, which can be implemented in both Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Marketing courses. The SC‐Mark experiential lab game is a real‐life business environment simulation that explores complexities in advertising industry service supply chains. One hundred sixty‐one undergraduate students participated in the game at two business schools over two semesters. The effectiveness of the game was measured and analyzed, qualitatively and quantitatively, based on text analysis of the feedback received from participating students. The results revealed five themes that helped student teams understand how advertising companies integrate and improve their service supply chains—buyer‐supplier relationships, supply chain functions and operations, consumer focus and orientation, community focus, and overall risk management. 相似文献

Adenosine deaminase and protein tyrosine phosphatase activities in liver and peritoneal macrophages were estimated in control,
streptozotocin induced diabetes and insulin treated diabetic groups of Swiss albino mice. Both the enzyme levels were elevated
while glycogen content decreased in the liver of diabetic group of animals as compared to controls, while in insulin treated
group, they were comparable to control levels. In macrophages also, both adenosine deaminase which plays an important role
in their maturation and protein tyrosine phosphatase enzyme involved in their activation were high in diabetic group, whereas

Asian Indian inversion deletion Gγ (Aγδβ)0-thalassemia is a rare entities characterized by high HbF. Due to interaction with various genetic factors, patients with Gγ (Aγδβ)0-thalassemia showed clinical variability. Here we are presenting the phenotypic expression of Gγ(Aγδβ)0 thalassemia under influence of various co-inherited factors. Patient with α-globin gene deletion had mild phenotype than the patient with β-globin mutations. Patient with alpha gene deletion were presenting clinical character like thalassemia intermedia while Gγ (Aγδβ)0-thalassemia patients with co- presence of beta thalssemia mutation clinically behaved like thalassemia major. 相似文献
