This paper reports on an investigation carried out in a 'key' secondary school in Shanghai. This investigation is set in the broader context of current developments in Chinese Education. Perhaps the first surprising discovery is that the affective aspects of education are seen as highly significant in these developments. Given the vast numbers involved and great regional differences, what is described here is likely to be only representative of the best practice. The particular focus of this paper is on the multifaceted role of the class teacher. The second surprise is that though there are great differences, not least in the politicization of education, there are striking parallels with English education and there are some instances where the class teacher's practice as described here is in advance of many of their English counterparts.  相似文献

In this study we investigated pre-training hydration status, fluid intake, and sweat loss in 20 elite male Brazilian adolescent soccer players (mean?±?s: age 17.2?±?0.5 years; height 1.76?±?0.05?m; body mass 69.9?±?6.0?kg) on three consecutive days of typical training during the qualifying phase of the national soccer league. Urine specific gravity (USG) and body mass changes were evaluated before and after training sessions to estimate hydration status. This article is an attempt to awaken the life of the spirit through the creative imagination. In form and content, the artcile encourages teachers and leaders to recognize and value the poetic and prophetic dimensions of their works as a way of deepening human consciousness. Within this article, creative ways of the spirit are explored through the rich language of poetry. Such language is intended to invite educators to visit their own interior landscapes where the Spirit moves, stirs, and plays. The article begins by attending to the voices of Latin American women whose poetry denounces oppressive silence as a threat to human subjects. Next, it explores poetry as dissent and desire and advances prophecy as the voice and the vision of poetic imagination, then concludes by challenging educators to notice and respond to the poetic and prophetic dimensions of their work as powerful intersections for both disclosing and concealing the Gracious Holy Mystery of God.  相似文献

In this work, we explore journal writing as a way to come to know culture, particularly cultural phenomenon, vastly different from one’s own firmly held and enacted beliefs. In this research, we accept the premise that writing is a way of knowing and adopt journal writing as a tool through which students can explore the knowledge they have developed as a result of their academic travel study experiences, all being participants in the China Study Abroad Program. Narrative threads from numerous graduate students’ journals are seamed together through the use of narrative inquiry’s analytical tools. The narrative exemplars that were created reinforce the personal, social, and professional importance of creating a reflective writing space through which many expressions of culture and students’ reflective responses to them can be channeled in productive and potentially transformative ways.  相似文献
