Development of the Multicultural School Psychology Counseling Competency Scale

The purpose of this study was to begin to delineate competencies needed by school psychologists in the provision of counseling services to culturally diverse clients and to develop an exploratory measure of multicultural counseling competence in school psychology practice. The present article discusses the development and preliminary psychometric characteristics of the Multicultural School Psychology Counseling Competency Scale (MSPCCS). The MSPCCS, which assesses trainers' perceptions of the multicultural school psychology counseling competencies of graduating trainees, was administered to a national sample of directors of school psychology training programs. Preliminary findings, based on a 57% return rate, suggest that the scale has good internal consistency reliability. Results of the factor analysis support a one factor solution for the scale. Specific considerations in the use of the scale are discussed, and suggestions for future research are presented. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

Adult education and agricultural extension: some comparisons ‡

In this paper, Alan Rogers draws on his experience in several countries, especially Namibia, to outline ways in which understandings of both training for extension and for adult education are drawing closer together, particularly in a move from a directive approach of trainer and learner through a responsive approach (meeting the learner's needs) to the more recent acknowledgement on both sides of the need for an interactive approach (what the author calls ‘third generation activity'). He suggests that both adult education and extension need new approaches to the training of their field workers.

Antireflection is an essential requirement for certain optoelectronic devices. Antireflective surfaces can be generated by different methods. One method mimics the nanofeatures on the moth eye surface. This can be done by ‘soft lithography’ (SL), where nanofeatures are created on an elastomeric stamp. This stamp is then used for imprinting the pattern on other surfaces.
