The concept of blended learning has begun to change the nature of all teaching and learning in higher education. Information
and communication technologies have impacted by providing a means of access to digital resources and interactive communication
for all courses and the blending of pedagogy and technology has produced a range of approaches to teaching and learning. This
paper discusses the research literature and the writers’ research, defining what they have concluded are teaching practices
that use the concept of blended learning effectively. In investigating how ICT can add variation for student learning, they
analyze this from two dominant modes of pedagogy, learning environment and pedagogy through both on-campus and distance education.

The paper provides (1) a teacher-administered rating instrument for inattention without confounding the rating with hyperactivity and conduct disorder, and (2) evidence that the ratings correlate with the scores obtained from cognitive tests of attention. In Study I, the first objective was to investigate the construct validity and the inter-rater reliability of the Attention Checklist (ACL) by factor analysing the teacher ratings of 110 Grade 4 children, obtained by using the ACL. The second objective was to investigate the predictive validity of the ACL by examining the relationship between the scores obtained for the participants from teachers' ratings using the ACL and the scores obtained by participants in the lab-type attention tests. The results of factor analysis showed that a single factor labelled ‘inattention’ underlies the 12 items in the ACL. Examining the differences in performance on attention tests, the ‘low attention’ children as rated by the teachers on the ACL scored lower than the ‘high attention’ children on the objective tests of attention. These findings were replicated in Study II, which was conducted to test further the construct validity and predictive validity of the ACL. This time, only those two tests (Auditory Attention and Visual Attention) that had shown relatively poor discrimination between the high and low attention groups in Study I were, again, administered to another cohort of 97 Grade 4 children, as it was our intention to further challenge the reliability of the ACL. Two common fish species, mosquitofish (Gambusia affinis) and topmouth gudgeon (Pseudorasobora para) were exposed to different concentrations of fenitrothion in static system for 96 h. Hepatic glutathione S-transferase activity
was evaluated after 48 and 96 h pesticide exposure, and was also examined in fish pretreated with pepironyl butoxide and triphenyl
phosphate and then exposed to fenitrothion. Results indicated presence of intense glutathione S-transferase activity in both
species, mosquitofish exhibiting the higher activity. In both species the activity decreased as the concentration of fenitrothion
increased, topmouth gudgeon being more susceptible than mosquitofish. In mosquitofish pretreated with pepironyl butoxide,
glutathione S-transferase activity was increased (11.8%) compared with the control but in topmouth gudgeon it was decreased
(21.6%) at the end of 96 h. Glutathione S-transferase activity was significantly reduced in both species pretreated with triphenyl
phosphate at the end of 96 h exposure, topmouth gudgeon being highly susceptible.

This study predicted that (a) male recipients evaluate aggressive messages as more appropriate than female recipients, and (b) the magnitude of this difference varies as a function of contextual parameters. A total of 249 college-aged students responded to hypothetical scenarios to evaluate the influence of sex of the message recipient, sex of the message source, relationship type, and privacy level of the communication setting on recipients’ evaluations of appropriateness of aggressive communication. Results indicated that male recipients evaluate aggressive messages as more appropriate than female recipients, and this main effect was moderated by sex of the message source, relationship type, and privacy level. We evaluated the efficacy of an in-field gait retraining programme using mobile biofeedback to reduce cumulative and peak tibiofemoral loads during running. Thirty runners were randomised to either a retraining group or control group. Retrainers were asked to increase their step rate by 7.5% over preferred in response to real-time feedback provided by a wrist mounted running computer for 8 routine in-field runs. An inverse dynamics driven musculoskeletal model estimated total and medial tibiofemoral joint compartment contact forces. Peak and impulse per step total tibiofemoral contact forces were immediately reduced by 7.6% and 10.6%, respectively (P < 0.001). Similarly, medial tibiofemoral compartment peak and impulse per step tibiofemoral contact forces were reduced by 8.2% and 10.6%, respectively (P < 0.001). Interestingly, no changes were found in knee adduction moment measures. Post gait retraining, reductions in medial tibiofemoral compartment peak and impulse per step tibiofemoral contact force were still present (P < 0.01). At the 1-month post-retraining follow-up, these reductions remained (P < 0.05). With these per stance reductions in tibiofemoral contact forces in mind, cumulative tibiofemoral contact forces did not change due to the estimated increase in number of steps to run 1 km. 相似文献

Freshwater fish, topmouth gudgeon (Pseudorasobora parva), were pretreated with piperronyl butoxide (PBO) or triphenyl phosphate (TPP) and then exposed to different concentrations
of fenitrothion (FNT) in a static system. Evaluation of brain acetylcholinesterase (AchE) activity after 24, 48 and 96 h pesticide
exposure indicated that AchE activity decreased as the concentration increased. Fish pretreated with TPP exhibited significantly
decreased AchE activity whilst in the PBO pretreated group, increased activity was observed as compared with those exposed
to FNT alone. The pattern of AchE recovery was also assessed in fish previously exposed for 96h and then transferred to clean
(chemical free) water. Following 8 days of recovery period, the AchE activity of those exposed to FNT alone and pretreated

In this study blood samples are taken from two groups of people, one that has direct exposure to pesticides (agriculturists
& public health workers) the second group, which has indirect exposure to pesticides through food chain. The objective of
our investigation is to analyze the blood of the patients with minimum health complaints and skin diseases for the residue
of the banned organochlorine pesticides DDE and BHC using Gas Chromatography. High concentrations of both BHC&DDE were observed
in the serum samples of the people who had direct exposure to the pesticides, namely agriculturalists and public health workers
with few exceptions. The pesticide residue concentration in serum ranges from 0.006 to 0.130 ppm for BHC and 0.002 to 0.033
ppm for DDE. Significance of this study reveals that the presence of these banned pesticides in human serum. 相似文献
