The school and especially the school leader's perceptions of a teacher's efficacy have influence on aspects of teaching ratings and performance, and this may facilitate or hinder beginning teacher success. This study examines the school leaders' perceptions of their beginning teachers' efficacy. The study's scope of teacher efficacy is multidimensional to include the beginning teachers' Teaching Competencies, sense of Professionalism, and Professional Identity. Of interest is the interconnectedness of these variables that contribute to the school leaders' perception. A total of 256 school leaders responded to a survey on beginning teachers' efficacy. A hypothesized model was tested. According to the analysis, while Teaching Competencies and Professional Identity did not have a significant direct impact, they each did have a significant indirect effect on perceived efficacy. 相似文献

This critical essay applies the concept of “presence” as a theoretical lens for explaining the rhetorical efficacy of protest events surrounding a contemporary debate about immigrants' rights in a suburban New York township. Specifically, the protests surrounding the town board meetings regarding Brookhaven's “Neighborhood Preservation Act,” a piece of legislation geared toward making rental laws more stringent, are examined. A group comprised largely of white, upper middle‐class citizens voiced their support for the proposed legislation, while a group of day laborers and those sympathetic with their cause characterized the proposed legislation as a form of racial discrimination disguised as a rental law. This analysis focuses on the specific tactics used by protesters on both sides of this issue in their attempts to persuade members of the town board, the news media, and the citizens of Brookhaven township. 相似文献

Performance technologists are likely to face at least two kinds of large-scale efforts. In one, the performance technologist is presented with a big issue to address; in the other, with a big program to make successful. This presents problems in implementing analysis: the results of the analysis must correspond to the size of the effort, but the project's sponsors want to see progress. The ideal approach, then, would be one that produces short-term benefits yet is not expensive or time-consuming. The organizational scan model can help performance technologists do a complete analysis without running up costs or wasting time. The keyword is “scan,” for the performance technologist will review the processes and traits of the organization, yet not place the organization under a microscope. The model is systemic, comprehensive, manageable, and communicable. It will help the performance technologist to identify actions that can be taken immediately to improve performance. The importance of early childhood education has been recognised for a large number of years in Chile. This paper offers an overview of the history of the Chilean Education System and shows how many early childhood programmes have been developed since the first Froebel kindergarten was introduced in the early 1900s. Although many children under the age of six years are involved in municipal education programmes, other programmes offer support for families in need. Of particular interest is the ‘Sala Cuna’ or ‘crib room’ designed for the youngest children (those under two), the law in Chile requiring employers to make provide for the children of working mothers. Learning to parent sensitively and safely can be challenging for adults with childhood abuse and neglect experiences. Such childhood experiences are prevalent among incarcerated parents whose ability to parent their own children is also limited by separation from them. Several prisons have developed programs to foster pro-social parenting skills among incarcerated mothers and fathers to assist them on release. This paper reports a qualitative research study that explored the factors affecting the delivery and outcomes of parenting programs in correctional facilities in New South Wales Australia from the perspective of individuals involved in developing and implementing the programs. Thematic analysis of 19 interviews identified two main themes: supporting parents’ learning in correctional settings and providers’ learning about parent education in correctional settings. Respondents reported the benefits of providing creative learning opportunities enabling parents to build on their strengths and to develop relationships. These factors contributed to changing prisoners’ attitudes and supporting them to consider alternative parenting approaches. The co-productive approach to parent education supported enhanced parenting knowledge among parents and greater insights among educators. Parenting education can be successfully delivered in correctional settings and can assist incarcerated parents to build on existing knowledge and adapt it to their own needs. 相似文献
