Combining CAL,Learning Styles and Cooperative Learning for more Effective Physics Instruction

The efficient use of computer-aided learning (CAL) requires that a student's learning style, that is, the mode by which information is perceived and processed, be carefully considered. When adapted to a learning style, sensitive cooperative learning environment, CAL strategies are found to be more effectively utilized, and both affective and cognitive outcomes more readily obtained.

Effects of Immediate Reinforcement and Awareness of Response on Beginning Counselor Behavior

This investigation studied the effects of immediate reinforcement and awareness of response class on the acquisition of a complex counselor behavior by beginning counselors. Sixteen counselors conducted seven interviews each in a naturalistic setting, and their emission of confrontive relationship statements was studied. The data indicated that a combination of awareness and reinforcement was more effective in increasing the emission of target statements than either variable alone. Taken separately, the two variables were of approximately equal effectiveness. Implications for counselor education and for the learning without awareness controversy are discussed.
