This study examined how an individual's perceived use of nonverbal immediacy is related to his or her perceived socio‐communicative style, and whether the use of nonverbal immediacy behaviors differs across relational types. Reflecting on a recent interaction, participants (N = 309) completed the Assertiveness‐Responsiveness measure (Richmond & McCroskey, 1990) and a modified version of the Nonverbal Immediacy Behaviors instrument (Richmond, Gorham, & McCroskey, 1987). Results indicate that (a) competent communicators differ from noncompetent, submissive, and aggressive communicators across ten nonverbal immediacy behaviors and (b) the use of nonverbal immediacy behaviors differs across relational types. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine how differences in organizational control expectancies affect superior‐subordinate interaction and relational certainty. Employees (N = 280) from several organizations completed measures of perceived control, attributional confidence, and superior‐subordinate interaction. Results indicated significant relationships between subordinates ‘ work locus of control orientation with relational certainty and superior‐subordinate relationship quality. This study investigated the cognitive impact of two years of tutoring on disadvantaged children in a “big-brother” type program. Although tutors were not specifically required to upgrade achievement, almost all assumed this to be a major thrust of their activities. Mathematics and reading skills were measured over a two-year period for children tutored two years, one year, and not at all. Findings indicate that one year of tutoring yielded some cognitive gains; however, a second year of tutoring did not increment them. Less emphasis on achievement goals during the second year of tutoring appeared to account for these results. 相似文献
