In search of educational equity for the migrant children of Shanghai

Around the world there is a growing consensus that migrant children's rights must be protected, regardless of where they have emigrated from. One of these rights is the right to a public education of equal quality to that granted to non-migrant children regardless of where one's family is registered or pays taxes. This article focuses on migrant children schooling in Shanghai. It will show that three main problems are still impeding migrant children from getting a high-quality education. They are: the inferior quality of migrant children schools; the lack of access to a public school and the much higher costs of schooling; and the high mobility of migrant students. Our conclusion: the education rights of migrant children have become contingent on the wills of urban local governments, public attitudes, and available space in local public schools.     

A comparison of white and black student academic success using noncognitive variables: A LISREL analysis

The structural relation of the seven noncognitive dimensions proposed by Sedlacek and Brooks in 1976 and traditional definitions of academic ability, as indicated by Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores, to first semester grade-point average (GPA) and persistence after three and five semesters was examined in this study. Random samples of entrants at one predominantly white state university were administered the Non-cognitive Questionnaire (NCQ) during summer orientation in 1979 and 1980. The NCQ results and the SAT scores were used to derive structural models (using LISREL) or early academic success for both black and white students. The structural models for the black and white students were found to be very different. For black students, traditional academic ability was related to first semester GPA, but neither GPA nor academic ability was related to persistence. Only the noncognitive dimensions were predictive of black student persistence. For white students, academic ability was the best predictor of first semester grades, and these grades were the major predictor of subsequent persistence. The noncognitive dimensions were not important in white student academic success, whereas they were crucial in black student academic success.     

新媒体环境下青年群体人际交往现状调查

随着手机的普及,网民年龄呈低龄化趋势。青年群体占全国网民一半以上,平均上网时长也逐年增加,但青年群体人际交往情况不容乐观。因此,研究青年群体使用新媒体及人际交往现状,对其改善人际交往具有重要意义。通过调研青年群体的新媒体使用和人际交往现状,发现青年群体在新媒体使用上存在耗费时间长、使用类别繁多、使用目的繁杂等现象。同时发现青年群体的人际交往方式多样化、人际交往群体集中、人际沟通时间较少、人际情感关系疏远等问题。从而提出规范新媒体平台,多样化人际交往,积极倡导平等交流,树立正确人际交往价值观,扩大人际交往群体,加强情感教育、改善人际情感关系、增加人际沟通时间等对策。以此使得青年群体正确对待人际交往,擅于利用新媒体进行人际交往,让新媒体成为人际沟通的桥梁,促进青年群体的人际交往得到健康发展。     

基于FlexPaper的文献共享系统设计与实现——以广西民族大学图书馆为例

提出一种以Web2．0为基础的文献共享系统框架,采用交互式的形式实现信息资源的共建共享,检索结果以在线可视化的方式展现,极大地提高了用户获取信息的效率。系统采用MVC架构进行设计,具有层次化、模块化和分布式的特点和良好的可扩展性。
