Online social viewing: Cross-cultural adoption and uses of bullet-screen videos

ABSTRACT

Bullet-screen technology, an innovative way of interacting with online videos, allows viewers to contribute comments that simultaneously appear over videos. Popular in East Asia, the technology is making its way to American audiences. This study employed a comparative qualitative focus group approach to explore how American and Chinese viewers responded to and interacted with this new format of online videos. Three themes emerge from this investigation: (1) the unique affordances of this technology; (2) barriers to adoption and usage; and (3) cultural differences that impact the user experience. The theoretical and practical implications for bullet-screen technologies are discussed.     

Nonlinear modelling of a SOFC stack by improved neural networks identification

The solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is a nonlinear system that is hard to model by conventional methods. So far,most existing models are based on conversion laws,which are too complicated to be applied to design a control system. To facilitate a valid control strategy design,this paper tries to avoid the internal complexities and presents a modelling study of SOFC per-formance by using a radial basis function (RBF) neural network based on a genetic algorithm (GA). During the process of mod-elling,the GA aims to optimize the parameters of RBF neural networks and the optimum values are regarded as the initial values of the RBF neural network parameters. The validity and accuracy of modelling are tested by simulations,whose results reveal that it is feasible to establish the model of SOFC stack by using RBF neural networks identification based on the GA. Furthermore,it is possible to design an online controller of a SOFC stack based on this GA-RBF neural network identification model.

自制的径向-推力联合动静压轴承试验台采用倒置结构，可实现径向加载、轴向加载以及两个方向同时加载。用来测量径推联合浮环动静压轴承及其它滑动轴承的静态和动态特性系数。文中讨论了试验台的加载方式、驱动方式、供油系统及测试系统。     

试论ELT Methodology课程的教学改革与创新

目前，如何教好英语已成为英语作为外语教学的探讨的热点。作为一名教师，纯粹地依靠掌握一些语言知识去教学是远远不够的，因此对于师资的专门培训显得尤为重要。然而师范院校中的“英语教学法课程”却是师资培训的最初步，最基本，也是最重要的课程。本文着眼于改变传统的“英语教学法课程”的教学模式，倡导此课程的教学改革，将理论与实践相结合，鼓励学生在模拟教学中进行反思，以确保学生在未来的教师生涯中，能坚持不懈地提高自身的职业素质。     

对考试的思考

在全国都在开展课程改革的今天,片面看重和追求分数至上以及片面追求升学率的现象仍很突出,课程为考试而开,教师为考试而教,学生为考试而学,严重制约着新课程改革的实施。     

现代教育技术与大学英语教学质量评估

大学英语是实践性强的学科,其核心目的是培养较好的语言运用能力。大学英语学科性质决定了教学模式应该突出学生自主学习与合作学习,而不是知识讲授。自主学习的教学模式决定了充分运用现代教育技术的必要性。现行教师教学质量评价体系比较粗糙,没有依据学科特点进行细化。大学英语教学质量评估应该从知识讲授型学科的教学质量评估体系中独立出来,把现代教育技术的合理和充分运用作为重要评价指标。     

论＂摩史＂在彝族民间信仰中的地位和作用——基于彝文古籍《摩史苏》的文本分析与田野调查

“摩史”、“布摩（毕摩）”和“苏尼”是彝族民间信仰的表达主体,三者之间既有区别,也有联系。“摩史”在彝族历史社会中发挥了重要的作用,“摩史”与“布摩（毕摩）”一起构成的二维一体的展演模式曾经是彝族文化传承的有机而高效的模式,逐步恢复这种二维一体的展演模式是保护和传承彝族文化过程中一种值得探索的选择。
