A stabilization policy for an economy with some unknown characteristics

A stabilization policy is developed for an economy with unknown and possibly unknowable characteristics. Uniform asymptotic stability is guaranteed for all initial states and for all admissible uncertainties. Welfare loss over the infinite horizon is bounded by a level dependent on the initial state. The policy is robust, with a simple structure. A simple example sheds some light on the fiscalist-monetarist debate.     

Solution of integral equations using a set of block pulse functions

A set of the block pulse functions is applied to solve the Fredholm's and the Volterra's integral equations of the second kind. An algebraic equation in matrix form which is equivalent to the solution of the integral equation is developed. The approximate results are easily obtained by a few computations. An accurate solution canbe evaluated in a digital computer by solving the algebraic equation. Two examples are given.     

Toward an Ethnic Studies Critique for Teacher Education

In an effort to humanize students of color in teacher education research, this study shifts away from the question, “How can we add students of color?” and instead asks, “How might teacher education programs be transformed to make space for students of color?” To begin, we articulate an ethnic studies critique for teacher education based on the demands for ethnic studies in the late 1960s. We then apply this critique in an analysis of the experiences of twelve preservice teachers of color. We argue that teacher education may be structured—institutionally and ideologically—to hinder the success of preservice teachers of color. We conclude with three suggestions for teacher education grounded in the ethnic studies critique, which offers an alternative paradigm for thinking of students of color beyond numbers and statistics.

文章以ocLc的“学术科研信息工作框架模型”为基本研究框架,采用问卷调查收集129份问卷资料,并深入访谈12位研究人员,对数字信息环境下学术科研人员在科研过程中的科研信息行为（信息查找、存取、组织、阅读利用、写作和学术成果分享等活动和行为）和需求的特点与现状展开调研和分析,以期为科学定位个人科研信息空间的功能框架和探索研究图书馆资源建设和服务提供实证指导依据。     

影响矩作为测度单篇论著影响力的评价指标探讨

把评价视向由针对学术主体转向针对学术客体,提出着眼于单篇论著影响力评价的影响矩指标。影响矩M被定义为单篇论著影响学者力A及其影响跨度D的乘积,M越大,影响越大。通过对测算样本集和校验样本集的数据分析,显示影响矩M与总被引C及h指数的相关系数都在0.6以上,表明影响矩可以作为测评单篇论著影响力的独立指标。

Aligning work force management practices with competitive priorities and process technology: A conceptual examination

Despite the accepted need for strategic alignment in the manufacturing strategy literature, there has been relatively little research aimed at simultaneously aligning decisions in the structural and infrastructural areas with the competitive priorities of an organization. This article attempts to bridge the gap by examining how work force management practices, an infrastructural decision, should be aligned with both the process technology of a manufacturing plant, a structural decision, and its competitive priorities. A conceptual model for linking competitive priorities, process technologies, and work force management practices is presented, and specific and testable propositions are developed for future empirical research. The proposed conceptual model is based on the premise that the process of matching work force management practices to competitive priorities involves identification of the key managerial tasks underlying various competitive priorities. These tasks, in turn, are matched with the process technology characteristics and work force management practices to seek a good fit, which is expected to improve manufacturing performance.
