ABSTRACT

This study tested the effect of 8-week endurance and resistance training programmes on cardiovascular stress responses, life stress, and coping. Fifty-two untrained but healthy female students were randomised to an 8-week endurance training, an 8-week resistance training, or a wait list control group. Before and after the training intervention, we assessed the groups’ cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2max test), self-reported life stress, coping strategies and cardiovascular reactivity to and recovery from a standardised laboratory stressor. Both endurance and resistance training programmes caused physiological adaptation in terms of increased VO2max after the intervention. For stress and coping parameters, participants in the training groups improved cardiovascular recovery from stress and reported having less stress in their everyday life after the intervention than participants in the control group, while the two training groups did not differ from each other. We did not find any significant differences in heart rate reactivity and coping strategies between the study groups. These results partly support that exercise training has stress-reducing benefits regardless of the type of exercise. Both endurance and resistance exercise activities may be effectively used to improve stress regulation competence while having less impact on changing specific coping strategies.  相似文献

We observed and measured the fluid flow that was generated by an artificial cilium. The cilium was composed of superparamagnetic microspheres, in which magnetic dipole moments were induced by an external magnetic field. The interaction between the dipole moments resulted in formation of long chains-cilia, and the same external magnetic field was also used to drive the cilia in a periodic manner. Asymmetric periodic motion of the cilium resulted in generation of fluid flow and net pumping of the surrounding fluid. The flow and pumping performance were closely monitored by introducing small fluorescent tracer particles into the system. By detecting their motion, the fluid flow around an individual cilium was mapped and the flow velocities measured. We confirm that symmetric periodic beating of one cilium results in vortical motion only, whereas asymmetry is required for additional translational motion. We determine the effect of asymmetry on the pumping performance of a cilium, verify the theoretically predicted optimal pumping conditions, and determine the fluid behaviour around a linear array of three neighbouring cilia. In this case, the contributions of neighbouring cilia enhance the maximal flow velocity compared with a single cilium and contribute to a more uniform translational flow above the surface.  相似文献

The purpose of the article is to show the results of empirical research on the prevailing teaching strategies for teaching contents of the subject environmental studies (specifically when dealing with natural content) in the first triennium of the nine‐year primary school in the Republic of Slovenia. The information was obtained through a survey of 141 teachers from 60 randomly selected primary schools in the Republic of Slovenia. We found that teachers use different teaching strategies as students gain knowledge through experience, participation in education, they express their opinion, views, solve simple problems and explore. Such notice shall then direct the transmissions to the transaction and transformation, which was an important objective of the reform of the subject.  相似文献

Parents play a very important role in all aspects of children’s experiences, and parental involvement in children’s school lives is associated with numerous educational outcomes. Therefore, the present study investigated the role of several parents’ demographic characteristics, parental self-efficacy, as well as beliefs regarding the value of education and the nature of children’s abilities, in modelling and reinforcement behaviours through which parents attempt to become involved in children’s school lives. The obtained results indicated that parental self-efficacy and beliefs regarding the nature of children’s abilities predicted modelling and reinforcement behaviours. Furthermore, parents’ attitudes towards education were identified as a significant predictor of modelling behaviours, whereas their gender predicted reinforcement behaviours. These findings confirm and extend previous knowledge regarding the role of parents’ beliefs in some aspects of their involvement in children’s school life that represents a relevant contributor to students’ academic achievements.  相似文献

Public discussion on the quality of education in different corners of the world very much relies on the data provided by the international large-scale assessment (ILSA) studies. While aware of different methodological keystones and technicalities embedded in these, the idea behind this special issue is to contribute to the understanding of how students solve ILSA items and the kinds of literacy skills they rely on. A shared element of reported studies is that they seek to document and analyse test-taking as a concrete practice using different theoretical and methodological perspectives. We find such scrutiny to be important and significant at this point in time as it offers some new lenses through which ILSA items could be inspected and further discussed.  相似文献
