Narrative inquiry as travel study method: affordances and constraints

This article maps how narrative inquiry—the use of story to study human experience—has been employed as both method and form to capture cross-cultural learning associated with Western doctoral students’ travel study to eastern destinations. While others were the first to employ this method in the travel study domain, we are the first to comprehensively explore the affordances and constraints of the methodology and the possibilities it holds for illuminating knowledge developments, community growth, and identity transformations on the part of participating students. Story fragments illustrating each of these opportunities and challenges are drawn from the China Study Abroad Program, a program sponsored by the University of Houston’s Asian American Studies Center that has been underway since 1995. Affordances of the narrative inquiry research method include such things as detailed accounts of individuals in interaction with diverse people/places/things and explications of stories people live in and by. Accounts, which are “true for now,” as opposed to true for all time and the dangers of human fallibility form two examples of narrative inquiry’s constraints.     

Family-based association study of ZNF533, DOCK4 and IMMP2L gene polymorphisms linked to autism in a northeastern Chinese Han population简

Objective

A study in a Caucasian population has identified two single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in ZNF533, one in DOCK4, and two in IMMP2L, which were all significantly associated with autism. They are located in AUTS1 and AUTS5, which have been identified as autism susceptibility loci in several genome-wide screens. The present study aimed to investigate whether ZNF533, DOCK4, and IMMP2L genes are also associated with autism in a northeastern Chinese Han population.

Methods

We performed a similar association study using families with three individuals (one autistic child and two unaffected parents). A family-based transmission disequilibrium test (TDT) was used to analyze the results.

Results

There were significant associations between autism and the two SNPs of ZNF533 gene (rs11885327: χ ²=4.5200, P=0.0335; rs1964081: χ ²=4.2610, P=0.0390) and the SNP of DOCK4 gene (rs2217262: χ ²=5.3430, P=0.0208).

Conclusions

Our data suggest that ZNF533 and DOCK4 genes are linked to a predisposition to autism in the northeastern Chinese Han population.

我国的市场经济实施宏观调控政策,宏观调控政策有助于我国建立适应我国实际情况的市场经济体制。对于房地产而言,宏观调控在新的发展时期能够起到重要的作用。宏观调控是必要的,是房地产市场发展的重要干预因素。加强房地产业的宏观调控,要从多方面着手,使房地产业能够为经济发展和社会进步作出贡献。本文从二方面阐述了我国房地产业宏观调控和必要性和手段,为我国房地产业的继续发展提供了一定的理论依据。     

地方性本科院校外语教师职业倦怠现状调查——以河南省为例

以河南省八所地方性本科院校的外语教师为调查对象,在Maslach的职业倦怠问卷的基础上设计相关的调查问卷,作者从情绪枯竭、去人性化和低成就感三个维度调查了当前河南省地方性高校外语教师群体存在的职业倦怠现象,不仅分析了这一群体整体上的职业倦怠状况,而且从性别、学历、职称和教龄差异角度进行了数据分析,进而提出了缓解高校外语教师职业倦怠的建议。     

中西方文化差异对灾难新闻标题的影响——以《中国日报》和《华盛顿邮报》为例

新闻标题是一条新闻的灵魂,起着高度概括新闻内容和吸引读者的作用。通过对比中西方有代表性的《中国日报》和《华盛顿邮报》的灾难新闻标题,可以分析出中西文化差异在媒体环境,思想观念和思维方式方面对新闻标题的影响,以及造成差异的深层原因,为今后灾难新闻的理解和新闻标题的撰写提供一个重要参考。     

中国赴俄留学生毕业实习面临的问题与思考

赴俄罗斯高校学习的中国留学生毕业实习不同于普通高校,其与中俄合作办学的主要目标、为推动中俄经济贸易发展提供充足的俄语人才资源、全球化经济发展带来的对国际化人才的需求都有着紧密联系,应重视中俄合作办学中国留学生毕业实习面临的问题,积极引导其实习,为将来的就业做好充分的准备。     

基于元分析的网络强度与企业创新直接效应研究

元分析在文献定量分析与综述中的应用已经越来越广泛,创新主体间网络强度对企业创新的影响关系目前在学术界仍存在争议.基于此,运用元分析方法对近年来国内外关于网络强度与企业创新关系的定量研究(36项研究的7904个独立样本)进行了再统计分析.结果表明,创新主体间网络强度与企业创新存在显著正相关关系(r=0.316),从一般意义上证实了创新主体增强网络强度有利于企业创新.此外,针对前人研究结论所出现的争议,从文化背景、行业或企业特征和创新测量类型三方面进行了探索性分析.研究结论为政府部门决策和企业参与创新网络实践提供了理论支持.     

网络科技信息结构化监测的思路和技术方法实现

网络科技信息具有开源、发布及时等特点,目前已成为战略情报监测的重要资源。但这类资源又具有非结构化、无语义描述等特点,如何将Web信息从非结构的自由信息转为可分析的结构化、语义化信息成为一个亟需解决的问题。针对这一问题,笔者提出了网络科技信息结构化监测的思路方法。这一方法通过知识抽取技术,从网络信息资源中抽取出嵌在其中的知识对象以及对象间的相互关系,将自由文本转换为结构化的可计算的知识单元,在此基础上构建各类监测模型,进而实现对研究领域的态势监测。基于这一思路,笔者开发了“网络科技信息自动监测系统”,并基于监测数据所形成的语义资源,进行了监测态势分析实验。图 6。表1。参考文献16。
