The struggle against illiteracy is a problem of great importance in Turkey as in many other countries. In Turkey the democratisation and secularisation of education have been a difficult process. Despite strong educational efforts in recent years, the country still presents various forms of inequality, such as considerable disparities between women and men, between town and country and between different regions. Unequal socio-economic, cultural and educational development, and attachment to cultural traditions are some of the factors that influence these inequalities. At the same time, Turkey is confronted by the sore problem of the education of linguistic minorities (especially the Kurds), who are not officially recognised as the cultural policy of Turkey aims to assimilate them. This paper concerns the simultaneous fault detection and control (SFDC) problem for a class of nonlinear stochastic switched systems with time-varying state delay and parameter uncertainties. The switching signal of detector/controller unit (DCU) is assumed to be with switching delay, which results in the asynchronous switching between the subsystems and DCU. By constructing a switching strategy depending on the state and switching delays, new sufficient conditions expressed by a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) is derived to design DCU gains. This problem is formulated as an H∞ optimization problem and both mean square exponential stability and fault detection of augmented system are considered. A numerical example is finally exploited to verify the effectiveness and potential of the achieved scheme. 相似文献

In this study 18 Mexican teachers of English as a foreign language in Guanajuato, Mexico were asked for their professional opinion about the teaching of English to Mexican immigrant students in the U.S. Teachers responded to a questionnaire that asked about attitudes toward the U.S. educational system, ways to support Mexican immigrant students, advice for American teachers, and Mexican students’ motivation for learning English. Respondents averaged 4 years of teaching English at various levels ranging from elementary to university. Half of the teachers had received some K-12 education in the U.S. Respondents held generally positive views regarding the U.S. educational system, but felt American teachers could do a better job in teaching Mexican immigrant students. They offered numerous linguistic and culturally responsive suggestions for improving upon the learning of English and the academic performance of immigrant students. 相似文献

This paper explores how a group of undergraduate students in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) use their mobile phones to perform
informal learning activities related to the content of their courses outside the classroom. The paper also addresses the usefulness
of informal learning activities to support students’ learning. The study adopts an exploratory case study design and uses
multiple methods of data collection including questionnaires, interviews and diary entries. Main findings suggest that students
performed informal learning activities mostly from home, interacting mainly with classmates. It also shows that students were
in control of their informal learning activities without teachers’ input. However, it was found that students used only a
limited number of applications but these were considered useful to their learning. The paper contributes to a discussion of
the implications of training and instructor support to help students to take more advantage of mobile phone applications to

There are many factors influence the level of students' achievement in education. Studies show that one of these factors is "learning approach of a student". Research findings generally have identified two approaches of learning: deep and surface. When a student uses the deep approach, he/she has an intrinsic interest in subject matter and is interested in ideas and conclusions to understand the subject matter. When a student employs the surface approach, he/she merely memorizes knowledge to pass any exam in school. The aim of this study is to determine learning approaches of science student teachers and to examine the relationships among the variables, such as level of students' class and gender. The sample of this study consists of 108 student teachers from the Science Education Program at Department of Primary Science Education in Karadeniz Technical University. Approaches to learning of science student teachers are assessed using the Revised Two-factor Study Process Questionnaire (R-SPQ-2F), a scale developed by Biggs, et al (2001) consisting of 20 items on a 5 point Likert Scale. According to findings, science student teachers generally have deep learning approaches. Moreover, learning approaches of science student teachers have not changed related to gender. 相似文献

Droplet-based microfluidics has shown potential in high throughput single cell assays by encapsulating individual cells in water-in-oil emulsions. Ordering cells in a micro-channel is necessary to encapsulate individual cells into droplets further enhancing the assay efficiency. This is typically limited due to the difficulty of preparing high-density cell solutions and maintaining them without cell aggregation in long channels (>5 cm). In this study, we developed a short pinched flow channel (5 mm) to separate cell aggregates and to form a uniform cell distribution in a droplet-generating platform that encapsulated single cells with >55% encapsulation efficiency beating Poisson encapsulation statistics. Using this platform and commercially available Sox substrates (8-hydroxy-5-(N,N-dimethylsulfonamido)-2-methylquinoline), we have demonstrated a high throughput dynamic single cell signaling assay to measure the activity of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) in lung cancer cells triggered by cell surface ligand binding. The phosphorylation of the substrates resulted in fluorescent emission, showing a sigmoidal increase over a 12 h period. The result exhibited a heterogeneous signaling rate in individual cells and showed various levels of drug resistance when treated with the tyrosine kinase inhibitor, gefitinib. 相似文献
