A study of the interaction between ropranolol and NSAIDs in protein binding by gel filtration method

Drug protein binding phenomena can lead to some interesting drug—drug interactions when one drug displaces another in the
binding site. Studies of protein binding are conducted by several methods including equilibrium dialysis, ultra-filtration
and chromatographic methods. Gel filtration is a simple chromatographic method in protein binding studies. Propranolol binds
to plasma proteins by 90%–95% in circulation system and other drugs with high protein binding may displace it. In this study
protein binding of propranolol has been studied using gel filtration to Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) alone and in the presence
of Acetyl salicylic acid (ASA), Indomethacin and mefenamic acid has been studied using gel filtration method. The results
indicated that ASA decreased protein binding of propranolol by 20% to BSA and other drugs did not displace propranolol from
the binding site. Therefore, ASA may alter pharmacological effects of propranolol. 相似文献

This Regular Feature explores the role of health science librarians in the coronavirus pandemic. COVID‐19 has spread rapidly all over the world. All major cities around the globe are in lockdown. In Pakistan, the first case was diagnosed on 26 February 2020, and currently, there are more than 2039 diagnosed cases and 26 deaths as on 31 March 2020. Across the country, there are further 12 000 suspected cases. This will undoubtedly increase if precautionary measures are not taken. Pakistani universities, colleges and schools were in lockdown. The role of university librarians in this emergency included raising awareness through public health education, providing support to medical staff, researchers and providing ongoing traditional services to regular library patrons in Pakistan. This study investigates how portfolios support pre‐service teachers' learning to teach. The findings revealed that the portfolio provides pre‐service teachers with productive learning experiences which help them develop their library use, knowledge, skills, attitudes, personal traits, motivation to learn, interpersonal relationships and an information source. This article deals with the development of higher education in Bahrain. The study includes the philosophy of the educational system which co-relates religious morals and cultural traditions with modern economics, technological and scientific developments. Empirical statistics show the growth of higher education in Bahrain since the late sixties. In 1968, the strength of staff and students was 3 and 18 respectively. In this article, attempts were made to examine students’ thinking about the concepts of infinity and their ideas about transiting from finite to infinite states through the concept of limits of sequences. The participants included 78 senior high-school students ranging in age between 17 and 19 years old. The data were collected through a questionnaire and an interview with all of the subjects. The findings showed that the students’ understanding of infinity is related to finite situations and many students consider infinite processes as a generalized form of finite processes. In the present study, the most common mistakes committed by students were related to consideration of infinity as a number and application of known finite results to infinite states. 相似文献

While it has often been suggested that information and communication technologies (ICTs) provide an important means of increasing citizen participation (which is at the core of democratic government), few commentators have expected non-democracies to create online environments in which citizens can take an active part in political processes. In recent years, however, some non-democracies have begun to outperform countries with long-standing democratic traditions in terms of e-participation development. According to the 2010 United Nations (UN) e-government survey, Bahrain outranks France, Kazakhstan beats Sweden and Malaysia ranks higher than Germany. This article sets out to understand the recent rise of e-participation initiatives in non-democracies. Drawing on comparative longitudinal data from the UN e-government surveys, we tested the assertion that international drivers of change are competing with the dominant focus on domestic factors, especially in the non-democratic world, and are influencing the patterns of reform. The empirical analysis demonstrated important differences between the drivers of change in democratic and non-democratic countries and found economic globalization to be the strongest predictor of e-participation initiatives in non-democratic countries. In conclusion, we argue that economic globalization alters the context of e-participation and necessitates a re-examination of many of its premises and tenets. 相似文献

The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the combined and partial effects of the Integrated Reading/Study Strategy
and Conceptual Physics Approach on ninth grade private high school students’ achievement in and attitudes toward optics. The
Integrated Reading/Study Strategy is a new strategy which was developed by integrating previously existing reading strategies
of the KWL and SQ3R with classroom lecturing. The Conceptual Physics Approach is an instructional strategy developed on the
basis of Conceptual Physics suggested by Paul G. Hewitt. To investigate the partial and combined effects of methods, factorial
design was used. The study was conducted with 124 students from two private high schools in the ?ankaya district region of
Ankara, Turkey. Various teaching/learning materials were developed and used for the study. Two measuring tools, Achievement
Test about Optics and Attitude Scale about Optics were used as pre and post tests before and after instruction. The study
continued for a two-month treatment period. The results of the study showed that the combined effect of the Integrated Reading/Study
Strategy and Conceptual Physics Approach improved students’ achievement significantly compared to the separate individual
methods. Although the product of the Integrated Reading/Study Strategy and Conceptual Physics Approach increased students’
attitudes more compared to the remaining methods, the result is not statistically significant. 相似文献

This study documented in detail teachers’ voices about their working conditions, professional development needs and opportunities to cater to these needs. The study reported in this paper was conducted as part of a large-scale study that used mixed methods to assess teachers’ professional development needs. The qualitative data reported in this paper were collected using focus group discussion with teachers (N = 481), classroom observation (N = 66), post-observation interviews with teachers (N = 24) and analysis of qualitative responses from survey questionnaires (N = 200). By bringing together a collection of teachers’ voices, the findings of the study illuminate a hope for positive change in teaching and learning in public schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, provided that teachers are genuinely considered as part of the solution and are facilitated with necessary physical and structural resources and psychological incentives. The education system needs to create conditions in schools that support teachers’ work and their continued professional growth. 相似文献
