Teaching for developmental growth: learning partnerships and student development in graduate education in China

Teaching and learning in higher education can integrate and accomplish student developmental goals in addition to promoting student learning of subject matter knowledge and transferrable skills. Drawn from the theoretical concept of self-authorship, the Learning Partnerships Model was implemented in teaching a graduate-level course on social research methodology. This paper describes the conceptualization and implementation of the developmentally attuned course, and reports a qualitative study that examined student development as its result. Qualitative data were collected from five cohorts of course participants, in the forms of reflective essays, student interviews, and the instructor’s teaching journal. Seven themes were identified that reflected student development throughout the course. The seven themes fall into three dimensions of epistemological, intrapersonal, and interpersonal development that are interconnected, and the epistemological dimension stands out as a strong partner among the three. These findings may help university faculty understand and integrate student development into their teaching practices.     

A 3D numerical simulation of laser-induced incandescence of soot particles in coal combustion products

Laser-induced incandescence （LII） has received increasing attention as a potentially powerful technique for in-situ measuring of the volume fraction and primary size of soot particles in combustion systems. In this study, a 3D Monte Carlo simulation combined with a Mie equation was developed to analyze the influence of spectral absorption and scattering on the measured LII flux emitted by soot particles. This paper represents a first attempt to analyze soot measurement using the LII technique in coal combustion products. The combustion products of gases （CO2, N2）, soot, and fly-ash particles, present between the location of laser-excited soot and the LII flux receiver. The simulation results indicated that an almost Beer-Lambert exponential decrease in LII flux occurred with an increase in the volume fraction of soot particles, while a nearly linear decrease occurred with an increase in the volume fraction of fly-ash particles. The results also showed that scattering effects of both soot and fly-ash particles on the LII flux could be neglected. Compared with the absorption of gases, a decrease of 20% of LII flux was observed with soot particles, and a decrease of 10% with fly-ash particles.

广东、江苏上市公司盈利能力比较

对广东省与江苏省的上市公司的盈利能力进行了统计比较分析，并用相关分析等方法对盈利能力与公司规模、成长性和现金流量间的关系进行了探索。文章结合实际问题的分析讨论了统计分析的一些方法问题。     

Pressure drop in a packed bed with sintered ore particles as applied to sinter coolers with a novel vertically arranged design for waste heat recovery

The pressure drop over a packed bed with sintered ore particles was studied experimentally. The sintered ore particles were characterized to determine their equivalent particle diameter, bed voidage, and sphericity. The pressure drop experiments were performed on unsorted and sieved particles with various size distributions for a superficial velocity up to 2.4 m/s, covering flow regimes from laminar to turbulent. It was shown that the Ergun equation underestimates the pressure drop for such highly irregular-shaped particles by about 40%. The measured modified friction factor was well correlated to a scaled Ergun equation, which was verified to be valid for the modified particle Reynolds number up to 12 000 toward design and optimization of vertically arranged sinter coolers for waste heat recovery.     

Large eddy simulation of the gas-particle turbulent wake flow

To find out the detailed characteristics of the coherent structures and associated particle dispersion in free shear flow, large eddy simulation method was adopted to investigate a two-dimensional particle-laden wake flow. The well-known Sub-grid Scale mode introduced by Smagorinsky was employed to simulate the gas flow field and Lagrangian approach was used to trace the particles. The results showed that the typical large-scale vortex structures exhibit a stable counter rotating arrangement of opposite sign, and alternately form from the near wall region, shed and move towards the downstream positions of the wake with the development of the flow. For particle dispersion, the Stokes number of particles is a key parameter. At the Stokes numbers of 1.4 and 3.8 the particles concentrate highly in the outer boundary regions. While the particles congregate densely in the vortex core regions at the Stokes number of 0.15, and the particles at Stokes number of 15 assemble in the vortex braid regions and the rib regions between the adjoining vortex structures.     

浙江省基础研究20年投入产出情况分析

基础研究是自主创新的源头,也是培育创新人才的摇篮.一个国家或地区基础研究的水平在一定程度上反映了该国或地区的持续竞争能力.从投入产出角度,对浙江省基础研究20年来所投入的人力、财力以及相应的论文、专利等产出进行了系统分析,指出基础研究对于区域创新能力的作用,同时也指明了浙江基础研究所存在的问题.     

一种基于多重哈希词典和K-最短路径算法的中文粗分词方案研究

本文在已有研究基础上,针对中文粗分词,设计了多重哈希词典结构,以提高分词的词典匹配效率,同时基于删除算法改进了中科院ICTCLAS分词系统的K-最短路径搜索思想.最后,论文对所研究技术方案进行了系统实现.系统实验结果表明,对于大规模文本,论文所提出的粗分词方案体现出了很好的性能.     

模糊模式识别法在股市中的应用

本选取反映经营业绩的5个重要指标,应用模糊模式识别法对上市公司经营业绩进行评价,评价结果表明该方法是合理可行的,对股市投资有一定的参考价值。     

Numerical simulation on dense gas-particle riser flow

A turbulence gas-solid model that combines Eulerian approach and Lagrangian approach is formulated, which takes inter-particle interaction into consideration on the base of kinetic theory. The numerical algorithm is included. Comparison of the model results with the experimental results of Miller and Gidaspow (1992) showed good agreement. Project(59425004) supported by NSFC.
