At the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, future engineers and young workers are now being regularly trained in documentary and scientific research techniques. This training is original in the sense that it is mainly based on the practical notions of online research as a pretext for acquiring a more general cognitive view of problem-solving: knowing how to define a problem, specifying the problem's environment, defining the potential areas of resource for solving a problem, etc. In other words, online research is an approach to training engineers to be receptive to: system analysis, value analysis, creativity techniques, problem-solving, critical analysis. Training in online information research using this approach, becomes a synthesising educational activity. From a historical view-point, university and industry have had a long experience of cooperation, with differing results according to the countries, the fields of knowledge or activity, and the particular period. During the last 10-15 years, new trends have appeared within society and one can observe changing roles, in education or in research. This paper investigates the impact of publication pressure on the ethics and the scientific integrity in the domain of mathematics and of the arts. Both research fields are specific in their methodology, being that they do not start from a classical hypothesis and researchers in these areas are not knowing what the outcome will be. The research design is open, and creativity is a main part of the research investigation. Both research fields do not rely on empirical cases nor on data collection or data handling. This could be a reason why mathematics and arts seem to be less subject to scientific misconduct. After presenting the (inter)national regulations on ethics and integrity, we will investigate a philosophical analysis in which we consider possible influences from publication pressure that became widespread over all disciplines.
