创造旅游市场，保护民族民间文化——重庆潜在的双赢模式分析

民族民间文化保护工程是国家的一项重要举措，但由于我国历史悠久、幅员广阔，需要保护的项目太多，各级政府每年拿出的资金有限，致使不少项目在短时间内不能得到及时有效的保护。本文认为，可以把旅游开发与保护工程结合起来，这样不仅有利于投资者，也有利于旅游的开发和民族民间文化的保护。重庆在这方面已经有不少成功的例子。     

Multiple determinants of caregiver behavior in child care centers

In this study of the multiple determinants of professional caregiving, 237 caregivers (age range: 18–56 years) from 64 Dutch child care centers were extensively observed during their interactions with the children (0–4 years) in their usual care group. The choice of potential determinants of the caregiving quality was guided by Belsky's [Belsky, J. (1984). The determinants of parenting: A process model. Child Development, 55, 83–96] model of the determinants of parenting. Consistent with Belsky's model, quality of caregiving was found to be multiply determined by characteristics of the caregiver, the children and the caregiving context. More specifically, lower-quality care was provided by younger caregivers, to younger children, and by caregivers reporting higher physical occupational workloads. The differences between the participating child care centers proved to explain more variance in the quality of professional caregiving than the differences between the individual caregivers.     

Quality perinatal nursing education through coteaching

Collaboration in teaching can take different forms, including the model of coteaching. This educational strategy requires time, effort, commitment, and collaboration between partners in order to ensure an enhanced teaching and learning experience. Little has been written recently on the theory of coteaching. The literature does not address the subject of coteaching or team teaching from a combined theoretical and clinical perspective. Two professors in nursing sciences present their experience in coteaching over a 4-year period, covering a theoretical course and a clinical practicum at the basic baccalaureate level, as well as the supervision of clinical preceptors for this same practicum. They describe the conceptual, personal, and environmental conditions that enabled them to use this particular form of teaching at this point in their careers. They discuss how the concept works as well as the advantages and disadvantages from the perspective of professors, students, and preceptors. Recommendations are made for implementing such a strategy while minimizing the risks for the program, the teachers, the students, and the educational milieux. Their discussion may provide insight for programs that prepare childbirth educators.     

Findings From a Multiyear Scale-Up Effectiveness Trial of Open Court Reading

This multiyear scale-up effectiveness study of Open Court Reading (OCR) involved approximately 4,500 students and more than 1,000 teachers per year in Grades K–5 from 49 elementary schools in seven districts across the country. Using a school-level cluster randomized trial design, we assessed the implementation and effectiveness of Open Court Reading over two years. Implementation study results demonstrated adequate to high levels of fidelity across the treatment schools. Intent-to-treat analyses revealed no statistically significant main effects on students’ reading performance in Year 1 and a small negative effect (d = – .09) in Year 2. There were positive impacts for particular subgroups, including kindergarten (d = .12) and Hispanic (d = .10) students in the first year. However, there were negative impacts for first grade (d = –.13), females (d = –.11), students who were not eligible for free or reduced-price lunch (d = –.19), and non-English language learners (d = –.10) in the second year of the study. Thus, relative to the “business-as-usual” reading curricula, no positive overall impacts of OCR and mixed impacts for student subgroups were found.     

Discussing education by means of metaphors

Abstract

Metaphors help us understand a concept by resorting to the imaginary because it is sometimes difficult to do so through the use of words alone. Thinkers have made use of metaphors to not only describe ‘falling in love’, ‘the pain of losing someone dear to us’, but also to describe particular concepts both in arts and sciences. In fact, the use of metaphors in some disciplines, particularly the sciences, is now regarded as something essential for the development of the field. We note that influential philosophers of education, such as Martin Buber, Paulo Freire, Michael Apple, Gert Biesta and Ilan Gur-Ze’ev have also made use of metaphors to discuss education and specific issues in educational contexts. In this article, we do two things: (i) we discuss the methodological importance of metaphors in helping us make better sense of concepts and particular problems; (ii) building on this methodological discussion, we critically discuss the problems posed by the current processes of ‘marketisation’ and ‘learnification’ in education. We conclude by arguing that metaphors do not provide us with ultimate answers to the problems we face; rather, they help us unveil a diversity of novel perspectives and a world of new possibilities.
