南海季风低压的活动及其降水分析

本文对1973～1986年在南海生成的季风低压的时空分布、路径及其降水特征等进行了统计分析和天气学研究。选择1986年6月下旬和1985年8月中旬两个季风低压过程,对其物理量作了计算,讨论了季风低压登陆后各物理量对降水造成的影响。     

水中总磷快速测定的微型环境监测实验

介绍了一种用于水中总磷快速测定的绿色微型环境监测实验新方法。实验将现代快速环境监测技术及自行研制的"多功能微型环境监测仪"和亚临界水快速消解装置应用于环境监测实验教学。与传统环境监测实验方法相比,本实验不仅大大节约了化学药剂,而且使学生在掌握新型实用监测技术的同时,加强对现代环境监测的理解,提高了学生对科研的热情和实验动手能力。     

Learning Introductory Quantum Physics: Sensori‐motor experiences and mental models

This paper reports a cross‐sectional study of Taiwanese physics students’ understanding of subatomic phenomena that are explained by quantum mechanics. The study uses students’ explanations of their answers to items in a questionnaire as a proxy for students’ thinking. The variation in students’ explanations is discussed as is the development in the way in which students link different concepts. A discussion of the source of students’ ideas turns to the way schema contain mental models that derive from sensori‐experiences. The principal recommendation for teaching is the need to include practical activities on a range of precursor phenomena so as to extend the students repertoires of mental models. This advice is different from that given in previous studies.

English,language shift and values shift in Japan and Singapore

This is a comparative study of English language education in Japan and Singapore and the role English plays in both countries. English language education in Japan has not been very effective. Although the communicative approach to teaching English was introduced in the 1980s, schools still use the grammar-translation method and most Japanese do not possess the communicative skills necessary for interacting with foreigners. Government rhetoric has also been hesitant in encouraging the learning of English due to concerns about English becoming a threat to the Japanese language and Japanese identity. This paper uses the case study of the Singaporean Chinese to point out that unlike in the Singaporean case, the chances of the Japanese shifting towards the English language and the values associated with it are relatively low.
