对教育理论与实践关系问题的本土反思

在我国,教育理论与教育实践脱离有本土的原因,也有解决脱离问题的本土条件。不能把产生本土问题的责任直接归因于某些国外现实的或历史的因素,也不能寄希望于别国供给彻底解决本土问题的理论和方法。教育理论和教育实践的“脱离”是一个实际的问题,纸上谈兵的解决也还是让有关“理论和实践结合”的理论继续脱离“理论和实践脱离”的实际。“新基础教育”研究认为教育理论和教育实践不是简单的指导和被指导的关系,而是一种“相互滋养”的新型关系,并通过自己“研究性的变革实践”,实现了理论和实践的相互滋养。     

Capping drugs: Development of prodrugs

It is clear from the foregoing, that the development of prodrugs promises to be a very effective method for treatment of diseases in the future. This approach has several advantages over conventional drug administration. Site specificity is central to the prodrug development strategy. Even though at present prodrugs are not prevalent in clinical use, in future there will be prodrugs for every known drug to make them effective in treatment. Drug discovery and prodrug development appear to be complementary for the generation of target specific medicines of future. At present the research in this area is at a nascent stage due to lack of information regarding all the enzymes or receptors most suitable for targeting purposes. As the unravelling of the microbiological details of the affected targets become clear, prodrug development will surely decrease side/toxic effects of drugs and also trigger development of more potent primary drugs.     

Predictors of reading delay in deaf adolescents: the relative contributions of rapid automatized naming speed and phonological awareness and decoding

Deaf readers often fail to achieve age-appropriate reading levels. In hearing children, two cognitive factors correlated with reading delay are phonological awareness and decoding (PAD) and rapid automatized naming (RAN) of visual material. In this study we explored the contribution of these factors to reading and reading delay in a sample of deaf students (N = 49, mean age 13 years) whose reading age (RA) was around 7 years. Although PAD performance was poor in the deaf students compared with RA-matched hearing controls, it nevertheless correlated with their RA. Whether tested in sign or speech, RAN was much faster in the deaf group than in RA-matched hearing controls but showed no direct relationship with reading level or reading delay. We conclude that in contrast to PAD, which is a factor in both deaf and hearing reading achievement, RAN may be only indirectly related to reading in deaf students.

Through a glass darkly ‐ curriculum control in New South Wales schools

ABSTRACT

This article examines the issue of moral education and especially the role moral educators should take in schools. It critiques a number of well‐known positions, principally those of absolutism, the specification of content and relativism. The author suggests that, though the debate is an immensely difficult one, it is possible to suggest that what we should in fact be doing is giving children in school those attitudes, dispositions, abilities, concepts, skills and other qualities which constitute a good performer in the area of morality. He concludes by providing a list of demonstrably relevant features of this enterprise.

State Broadcasting and Minority Languages: the Case of Irish in Ireland

Abstract

The scale and content of minority language programmes in State broadcasting services reflect (a) technical/operational, (b) language planning and (c) ideological considerations. These three elements form the environment within which broadcasting policy is formulated and within which, over time, it changes. Irish language broadcasting in Ireland is discussed from this viewpoint.
