Blackbelts in biochemistry: On being and becoming

High precision lab work is feasible and all students can be inducted into such practices from day one. This is also required by the more commercially/industrially oriented laboratories, though no compendium of such practices exists. Based on experience in imparting such instruction and analysis to teaching labs as well as larger laboratories, some immediately relevant ideas are put together here. While the ideas may appear simple, there is danger in thinking that the underlying statistical theory is also simple, which is often not the case. But even without the relevant theory, much can be achieved in the lab.

International Approaches to Whole-of-School Physical Activity Promotion

Increasing physical activity opportunities in schools has emerged as a global priority among school-aged youth. As a result, many countries have designed and implemented whole-of-school physical activity initiatives that seek to increase physical activity opportunities that are available to school-aged children before, during, and after school. Considering the comprehensive school physical activity program conceptual framework, this article includes a discussion of the initiatives from four countries: Finland (Finnish Schools on the Move), Ireland (Active School Flag), Poland (PE with Class), and the United States (Let’s Move Active Schools). Background information, implementation strategies, best practices, development opportunities, and relevant research from each country will be presented. Exploring different perspectives sheds some light on the international landscape relative to whole-of-school physical activity promotion and provides direction for future and continued research and practice.

根据华中师范大学文学院邹建军教授提出的文学地理学,通过分析易卜生诗歌中的地理空间建构途径,诠释和实践地理空间的建构途径,即地理叙事。在易卜生的诗歌中,特定的地理位置、非特定的地理位置以及想象的地理位置相互关联。这些地理位置并列存在而距离跳跃,彼此临近而逐渐延展,虚虚实实而相互转换,共同组建易卜生诗歌的地理框架,联结诗人的脚步和思想,诗人内心的种种情感也在这些地理位置之间强烈迸发。诗人通过实景与幻象交织,真情与诗意的交融,建构起一个个独立而统一的地理空间。     

Choosing the right imaging method in muscle hernias: musculoskeletal ultrasonography

Muscle hernia (MH) is a focal protrusion of muscle into the overlying subcutaneous tissue through an acquired or congenital facial defect. Herniation in the thigh muscles is not common and there are limited reports evaluating this pathology using ultrasonography (US). A 28-year-old amateur football player presented with a palpable mass on the anterior aspect of his right thigh. Sonographic examination demonstrated a MH through a fascial defect, which is called mushroom appearance. Based on the clinical and sonographic findings, the diagnosis of a MH in the rectus femoris muscle was established. Today, there is no doubt anymore on the role of musculoskeletal US in the field of sports injuries. Therefore, with its various advantages (non-invasive, practical and convenient, inexpensive, etc.), US is the key imaging method in the diagnosis of MHs.     

福莆宁三市同城化产业结构及发展路径

指出同城化在城市经济发展中的重要作用。从福州、莆田、宁德三市同城化中产业结构调整的角度入手,讨论三地产业发展状况,认为福州市第三产业发展比重比较大,莆田市第二产业比重较大,宁德市第一产业占比仍然较大,第二产业发展规模不够。针对研究结果,建议在同城化过程中,福州市应往服务型城市发展,适当转移一些高耗能产业到莆田和宁德两地;莆田市可巩固优化第二产业,发展第三产业;宁德市则应发挥第一产业优势,加强第二产业发展。
